This is Rudy's daughter Wendy - My dad has passed away

Hello to everyone on the TFF. This is Rudy's daughter Wendy Lackey. I'm am sorry to say that my dad has passed away. I know he would have wanted you all to know. He left us Dec 5,2016 on Monday. He passed peacefully in his sleep at home in his own bed beside my mother the love of his life of 53 years. He left behind a loving wife, two grown daughters, two son in laws, 4 grandchildren who all adored him.
He enjoyed getting on this forum and talking to his friends, it was a part of his daily routine. Thank you for being his friend and for joining me in wishing him a happy journey to the big lake in the sky where I know his cast will be true.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing Wendy....I pray your family finds peace and hope during the holidays without him. I lost my Dad in August and it is tough but we take it one day at a time. God bless your family and Merry Christmas to you all!

RIP Rudy

This is Rudy Lackey's Grand daughter Hanna Wood posting.
Pop was always short sweet and to the point, and that's how he liked life. He lived how he wanted, and he did what he wanted. We all knew that you all were a close part of his life and we thank you for the many hours he spent doing something he loved, talking about fishing. We all knew how much yall meant to him. If anyone wants, the funeral will be Saturday at 1pm December the 10th at Lonesome Dove cemetary in Southlake off Lonesome Dove road. We will probably meet at the church just before 1 and head over to his grave, we will be doing a graveside service and the weather should be in the 50s with a breeze, so dress warm, not fancy. Something I would also like to post is the GoFundMe page that I created to help us with the cost of this unexpected funeral, we aren't expecting anything, but we have had a lot of requests of how people can help. So we are asking whatever they were going to send, instead please donate even just a little to his fund to relieve the burden, everything else we have handled just fine. We will be taking care of his wife and all his final wishes.

Rudy was a good guy. He always would help me out with a tip or two.

Well now I know that when I get to the Fisherman's ultimate reward I know that Rudy will be there to guide me to the best fishing spots and tell me which lures were working. I wouldn't be surprised if the fish all had holes in their jaws due to Rudy catching them first. I'm sorry that such a good man has passed on, but his death cannot kill his good name. God speed Rudy, and God bless all his family and all his fellow fisherman friends.

Please tell your Mother, that Patty and I prayers are with all of you in this time of your lose. If you look around the TFF there isn't anybody that wasn't touched by Rudy's big heart, and we are all better individuals because of your Father. So as we mourn his passing, know that he wants us celebrate his life. And that he would want us to pass that special zest for life that he loved share, to every one we meet. I first fished with Rudy back in early 2000's and always look forward to hearing from him. May God be with all of you in this time of sorrow.

I first met Rudy when he was cutting hair at Razor's Edge in the Northeast Mall. As best I can figure that was about 38 years ago and he has cut my hair ever since. Over the years Rudy and I spent many hours talking bass fishing, rock and roll and the crazy things we each did growing up in the 60's. I fished with him many times on Ray Roberts and it was amazing the knowledge he had of that lake.

I will miss my trips to Rudy and Nancy house for my hair cuts and my conversations with them.

Rudy was a great guy and a great friend.

I am so sorry to hear that your dad passed, him and fished many tourneys together and was just thinking of him the other day. I got out of fishing for a while but always talked about him , my wife and I. Never had a better time on Ray Roberts than fishing with him. I remember the first time we fished a tourney at Ray Roberts I let him drive my boat and it was dark and he flying through the trees as if they weren't there at all. lol Scared the hell out of me but he put on some good fish. Learned a lot from him and he will definitely be missed. So to my friend I say farewell, and may God comfort his Family.

I am so sorry to hear this! I hadn't spoken to Rudy since I was managing Gary Yamamoto's Custom Baits years ago, but enjoyed our conversations. He always made me feel like I had known him for years.
