New PB at Ivie, 11 lbs 5.9 oz! - 04/23/16 02:34 PM
Fished Ivie last Sunday 17 Apr and beat my previous personal best by a little over an ounce! I've only fished a handful of times since last Oct and even considered taking a couples years off, so this fish couldn't have come at a better time. Hit the water at 1300 and about 10 minutes later hooked into her. My first cast of the day I bumped some timber and when I tried to pop my lure off, I realized my drag was backed off all the way (which I only do when I store my gear), I remember thinking how bad that would have been if that had been a big fish and not timber. Then maybe 6 casts later and this big girl slammed it! Fought great for her size, dug a couple times, and of course jumped right at the side of the boat which is where I lost most of the bigger fish I hooked last year. She stayed hooked though and after fumbling with the net my buddy scooped her up. After her, managed to boat two 5's, a 3, and a 2; I'm very grateful for her and the day I had. Of course, the best part was the release, she was handled well and swam off in great shape.
Here is my previous PB, also from Ivie caught last year, 11 lbs 4.6 oz. She is still burned in my brain!
