I would have thought the mild winter and the warm temps would have them in full on spawn by now. I cant seem to find more than some 10 inch males up shallow right now, I mainly fish a little lake thats between Tawokoni and Fork and I've had the darndest time trying to find them.
What would y'all throw on a stained lake that doesnt have a lot of contour this time of year?
Here's a couple good ones I caught a few weekends back. Caught the fire out of them during that big rain storm that came through but they only bit for about an hour when the wind was really howling, before and after that it was completely dead. One went for 4.5 and one was close to 6.

Those are two beautiful Bass. You did good. The mild winter has put them up there one at a time. Everyone will hardly realize there was a spawn if it wasn't for the bore bass hanging around. With the high water in all the larger lakes we have scattered bass spawning in really thick cover. Scattered cover is better when trying to find an area with several big fish hanging around. Back in the thick stuff they want to let that bait go away if possible. You have to really slow down and force feed them.

They have moved deeper, so try a really light C-rig with a Fluke and Baby Brush Hog. Fish it ever so slow parallel with the shoreline in 6 to 10 ft. of water if you have that depth in your little lake. Slow roll a 1/4 oz. spinner bait with a #4 Colo. blade single spin. Fish it ever so slow also. Chatterbait with Chart./White/Blue skirt and a Watermelon Seed Paddle tail cut to fit is an excellent reaction bait.

You may find that with the spawn passing you by, that you just need to get back on the early morning and late afternoon pattern that most small lakes that are shallow are noted for.
