Opinions on mid depth CB?!

Opinions on mid depth CB?! - 01/20/16 01:41 PM

I am wanting everyone's opinion on the best Mid depth CB that gets down to 12ft of water? I'm targeting fish right now in the 9-12ft range but don't really ever crank in that depth zone. Now I know this is comparing boats or trucks bc everyone will have a different opinion but I'm looking for different options. Thanks for your help

Love the 3xd and 6xd but have had literally zero success with the 5!

That is strange. I like all three but I throw the 6 more than the other two.

Since the 6XD works for you, have you thought about throwing it with a larger diameter line to make it run a little shallower.

I like the H2O cranks and the 6th sense brand.

A straight Series 5 is a GREAT crankbait! This time of year, I also like the Spro Little John MD. It's a flat sided crankbait. Also the Rapala DT10

I know man it is! Caught countless fish on the 3 and 6 but I have never caught a fish on the 5! Weirdest thing ever and no I haven't thought about the bigger line! Problem with that is I dont believe the fish are keying in on that big of a bait!

I love the Little John MD but haven't been able to get it down to 12fow even with 10lb flouro and to scared to go lighter than that!

DT14 is what you need.

6th sense 250 MD will hit 11 ft with 12 flouro. Has a little tighter wiggle than most which is good right now and is extremely snag free for a round lipped crank

Dont leave out the Wiggle Wart in cold water it is a bad dude.

I'll only use the 5XD for suspending fish ive marked on the graph and burn it on an 8.0:1 reel- pure reaction. 6XD for digging up the dirt, rocks and off lay downs up to 18fow on a 17# AbrazX and a lure knocker handy. As for a 3XD, ive lost to many to count so i generally stick with a square bill or lipless. Thats my 2cents.

I also had good success with the 250 MD last year. It has a wiggle similar to a Norman Deep Little N, which is the only crankbait I'll throw until about March. I'm usually only able to get the Deep Little N to about 10 ft on 12 lb fluoro. The 250 MD, with similar action, will get down to around 12 ft with the same action and about the same size so I plan to use both quite a bit this spring. When the water warms up, I switch to varieties with wider, more aggressive wobbles like the Strike King 5's and 6's and the Bomber Fat Free shads.

#1. Rick Clunn RC Freak by Lucky Strike. I like the 2.5 inch series 2 that dives to 13ft in copper perch or spotted shad.
#2. Rapal DT14
#3. SK 3XD

Make your wife mad? That ought to be the easy part.

Hey josh you have had some great responses on a bunch of good mid divers. I have a few options for you in that depth range I'll make them whatever color you want. One is my deep 10 nice size body little larger than a 1.5 has weight transfer and cast great. Will get you in the 10-12ft range has a tight action that has been really productive in the colder water. I might even have a few colors you like smile
