Bad Trip to the Lake-It happens FAST!

I was on my way to Lake Athens early Saturday morning...eastbound I20 around Duncanville when I feel a large impact/push from my rearend! I started spinning down the highway and ended up in a wet ditch, facing on coming traffic! I think I did a full 360 plus another half!

My Tahoe and I were fine, but my boat was about 100 yards down the road...flipped and off the trailer. It's a complete loss.

Best we can tell, the young lady must have either fallen asleep or was texting and veered into the side of my boat..setting me spinning.

I recovered all my rods/reels/lures/etc. but both graphs and Talon are history.

Now I'm in new boat search mode!

Check ur rods cause they possibly r broken. Buddy got hit by drunk and rods were in compartment and they were cracked

Yes. Glad you're ok. Boats are material items and they can be replaced. Sucks to hear about it. But, you're alive. Someday soon they will ban cell phone use in cars. And they probably should. More accidents are caused by texting than just about any non vehicle caused accident.

I am glade to hear you are O.K. I passed by the scene before daylight (on my way to Lake Athens) and wondered what had happened--it looked pretty bad. The authorities were already there (along with a tow truck) so we did not stop. Again, I am glad you are O.K.

Karl that's scary! Really am glad that you and all people involved are OK. Let all of us know if there is anything we can do to help you get back into a boat, once the insurance company takes care of you. Reminder to all of us to check our surroundings constantly when towing a boat on hiways!

That's scary! Glad you are alright. I was being tailgated towing my boat in the rain on Friday and came close to the same result too many times. Hope insurance makes you whole again!

short answer is yes.

longer version: you will most likely have to fight to get the 4k for it, they will try to lowball ya real bad on an older boat. I carry 10k on an 82 champion due to all the "goodies" I have added and the fact that it is in excellent condition even for its age.

most policies will cover towed equipment but you should always go after the one that hit you before using your own ins. to cover a loss.

one suggestion I make is to find out who the cell carrier is and asap have the call record subpoenaed also record the time of the accident (I know it is hard to think of all this right after) and if it shows they were on the phone at the time go after them and go at them hard.
stupidity should be rewarded with severe consequences for bad results.

I have yet to understand this one as well. When I tow my boat I hang out in the right hand lane but people will get right behind me. Do they not see the prop that would really hurt going into their heads or chest?
