Rod balancing/counterweights?

Rod balancing/counterweights? - 02/27/15 11:21 PM

I've never wanted or had to balance a rod before until now. It's a 6'9" split grip spinning rod. The current balance point with the reel in seat is approximately 4" above the center of the seat. Any suggestions of kits or methods? Thanks in advance for your input.

BPS sells counterweights. I use quarters-lots cheaper. All my rods are balanced.

Once you balance your rods you'll have a lot less fatigue at the end of the day.

Add weight until with your finger at the reel the rod hangs horizontal.

I had a fellow fisherman tell me the best rods are "tip heavy" rods, When you add a reel it balances the rod out. go figure.
