Spring spawn time?

Anybody have any guesses on when the spawn should start? i was also curious if you believe the spawn time would be earlier in a large pond compared to a lake?

well here in this great state we can have a 70 degree week and then a 30 degree week so i was curious if anyone thinks the spawn should be coming up soon or if it will be a while

All depends on size of "large pond" and water clarity dirty water will warm faster. But usually to answer ur question ponds will spawn sooner than lakes but fish still need 3-5 days of stable warm weather in conjunction with a full moon to really kick into gear

I'm thinking of the weather holds in the high 60s-low 70s next week through the first couple weeks of March we should see spawning. The nighttime temps look like they're gonna be warming up into the 50s next week as well. This would coincide with the full moon, March 4 so hopefully around there we should see fish moving up.

I know someone that caught 'em "lookin' at 'em" on Super Bowl Sunday. Those fish are done and have been done a long time.

Golf course bayou/pond.

Smaller waters warm quicker and those fish will get it done when the water's right. Kind of blows holes in the "length of day" theory.

To answer you I said water temps, meaning like little fish tx said those pond waters warm faster and they should be up and done/doing/close too it. I saw high 50's on a very large body of water last weekend so I am sure a pond is high50-low60. You should be able to find spawning fish no prob.
