Finally Got One on the Swimbait.

Finally Got One on the Swimbait. - 02/16/15 07:17 PM

I usually throw a swim bait but put it down after a few casts. I have caught some on the smaller money minnows and such but not much luck on the bigger swimbait. A fellow TFFer was kind enough to take me out yesterday and I finally got one to bite the bigger swim bait. It was only about a 2-3 pound fish but man he absolutely hammered that thing. I finally know what you guys are talking about as to how addicting that bite is! Plan on using it more now. I know I need to just spend a couple of days only throwing one which is what I hope to do soon.

I'm with you man! I caught my first big fish on one this weekend. Caught it on a custom poured 9" paddle tail. It was a blast.

Congrats! Swimbaits usually catch bigger fish for me. Here's proof at Marine Creek...one of the toughest lake to catch anything of size...

It was a line through. The weight was inside the bait.

I Texas rig swim baits, but I've only been throwing them off and on the last few weeks. Phone stay, I've only tried them because I've been trying everything this winter. I've caught a few on them, all were 1-3 lbs, but I still have no confidence in them.

I'm going to focus in them this spring and summer a little harder.

You can put a boat in on marine creek?

There were a ton out there Saturday. I was fishing from the bank but the lake isn't low. First time out there since October, but it wasn't low then, either.

Like an actual bass boat with an outboard and run the outboard? Marine creek off 820 by tarrant county college? Lake doesn't look big enough

Where's the ramp? The lake any good?

The ramp? Right off 820, in Tarrant County? That ramp?

It's home to a ski club and also a marine dealer does test drives there, but good call. Also, it's 300 acres and a share lunker lake.

What do you even mean? Lol so ramp is off limits??

Ramp is open....you can access it off of the marine creek exit service road going west by the college...

What I mean is, the lake that you asked sarcastically about being located right off 820 in Fort Worth, which is located in Tarrant County, Texas, U.S.A. allows bass boats. It even allows a ski club to hold water skiing events there and also allows a marine dealer (that sells boats) to give test drives there. It is 300 acres or so and not only allows bass boats in there to fish, but also all of the above.

Oh, and it is a share lunker lake to boot.

Trying not be sarcastic, I was making sure it was the right lake, I always thought it was a tiny lake and no boat access, especially a bass boat , I was surprised to learn that you could, and yeah I read it's i. The sal program

The lake has a lot of grass with a lot of small fish. My biggest out of MC is like 2 pounds but as seen in Carlos' picture, there are some bigger ones. It's a pain to fish most of the year due to the skiing. The Metroplex Ski Club schedules most of their events out there. My best advice would be to fish the points and try to find some deeper grass. Dam isn't even worth a look IMO.
