1.) Spot lock works great in a steady wind.....if the wind is swirling or light and variable the motor will wander a lot.

2.) http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/trolling_motors/freshwater_bow_mount/terrova.aspx

3.) For me the Terrova is worth every penny. I would pay a lot more than what they charge. I have a very bad neck/back and most days I can't stand the entire 8 hours. This motor enables me to maneuver the boat and put my clients in the best possible position while sitting down and being out of their way.

Cons? It's a pain (literally) to deploy and stow. Electric steer is not nearly as responsive as cable steer.....you really notice this when trying to navigate shallow stumps and trees. There is no...."oh [censored] there is a stump" and move quickly to avoid it.....you hit it. If you spend most of your time shallow I would not own this TM.

Thanks Jay . I fish in the dirt , and timber . Sounds like I better stay with a foot controlled unit .

I bought a Terrova w/iPilot about 6 months ago. For the first 3-4 months using it, I was having to fish shallow. I was really second guessing my decision. I primarily fish Rayburn so timber is not really an issue, but I was still wondering if I did right.

Fast forward to late April when I finally started to move offshore. It's priceless. The anchor feature is the bomb at the right time. There are times where it forces you to fish off the back of the boat because of wind direction but that doesn't really matter.

Based on how you said you fish, I'd strongly discourage you from buying one though. No real benefit up shallow other than the feature of being able to record a trail along the bank and then repeat it later.

I have the terrova and love it! wouldn't go back but I spend a lot of time fishing deep. It has a learning curve but not very long. the stow and deploy sucks but other than that its priceless. I also like the auto pilot feature for going down long stretches and it keep you on course. love being able to sit down in the boat and retie and not end up a half mile down the lake.

it also looks cool when you launch your boat and come back and its sitting out in the water empty...everyone stares at you kinda funny. handy...dont have to tie up to dock.

I had the powerdrive v2 with ipilot for a year. I fish with friends/family for sandbass often so the compromise was a no brainer for me.

If only MK could make deploying the thing easier and a foot control that is precise and fast then every boat owner would be drooling over one... Essential modify a cable steer to be auto driven but I'm sure that is the prototype they started with and found it to not be good enough. OH well give it 5 years..

Terrova is Awesome - when it works.

I have a terrova, and bought a Maxxum for backup - you can mount the terrova quick release mount to the maxxum - requires drilling - but when I take away from home trips, the Maxxum goes to, because its not "if" but "when" the terrova will [censored] out.

The boards will die. OFTEN.

It ROCKS when it works....
