My new boat

Unloaded with half tank of fuel 77 mph, tackle and same fuel 76. I got to pick the colors (back in dec 12) and think they turned out great. It is high hours though. The smartcraft said 12.8 when I picked it up yesterday lol.

GPS. The new c boats aren't point and click. You have to drive them. These aren't your daddy's Ranger.

I agree with checking the speedo.I had a 09 21' skeeter with different heads , tuner and a tricked out prop by myself could only get 78.

Wow!!! Why would I lie about the speed? Would you guys like a gopro video? I thought GPS was the benchmark for a speedometer? Are they off? Need to be calibrated?

Congrats on the new boat, don't worry, there's several videos on youtube showing gps speed of 80+ on the new 520C. Have fun and let her fly.

Some guys are still stuck in the old Ranger days. The Z520 platform has been easily breaking 70mph since 2008. Plenty hit the 75 range so I can believe one hitting those numbers.
It really kills some to be positive about much of anything. Ignore the boo birds and enjoy the new ride. Congrats

Sick 520c man, the new ones are definitely the fastest rangers yet. I think I saw one of the elites or FLW pro's showing his touching 80 with empty livewells and half a tank when they first came out.

i have been sitting in the passenger seat of a ranger that was loaded for fishing with all of 500 lbs of man meat as it hit 70. this was in 2010, so i doubt a new one would have trouble hitting these numbers. very nice boat, no reason to go any faster in a boat any way. why are all you guys so obsessed with going 2 mph faster than the next guy?

My manliness is directly correlated to how fast my toys are. Otherwise I wouldn't have spent probably 300k between 1998 and 2008 to go faster than the guy in the other lane.

But I was very manly then .

Nice boat! I could bump 73mph in my 521C before I put the power poles and Atlas jack plate on. Now I can't get much over 70mph. Still playing with it though...

Very pretty boat! I had no idea rangers were building boats that were that fast. I didn't think that was a big deal to them as it was more about he ride and other things. Very cool that you can get a little of both now!

That's one fine ride Mike. Don't mind the nay sayers, they are just having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that the new Z520's will walk off and leave the skeets.

I have passed up several skeets since I got my z521 in feb. empty wells one pole and 40 dollars in gas and the usual tackle 72 mph

Love the look I get from the skeet drivers when I come by em' although I have had three skeets myself and my old ZX202 was the fastest

The Range Z520C is a awesome boat! Test drove one on Belton last year with 4 footers on lake Belton I got it up to 65 GPS that's new for a Ranger! And I was taking it easy on the boat... I'm a Skeeter Man but if I was going to get a new one it might be a Ranger!

You got the drag race model with the 300 merc under a 250 cowling.

They definitely won't run that with a rude on the back. I know Tharp told me his 520 would never run over 75 but I will admit that's smoking fast in that ranger. I love those boats I'll admit that in a heartbeat

I don't have the 520C just the regular Z520 and I have the 250HO. I know its faster than my previous boat and solo with a light to medium load I can get it to 73 or so. Two guys its around 71. Have seen 74 a time or two. I just run a Fury prop and have a static jackplate. That is plenty fast for me.

I agree Mark 73 is plenty fast. Anything above 75 on the water is flying!

Everyone wants to brag about how fast their boats are so I'll brag a bit myself. Got an 1987 Champion 201 with a 95 Mariner 225 that will hit 70 with myself loaded. So big deal, it don't help you catch fish! No fish No friend!

I quit buying Rangers several years ago because of the ride and the lack of speed. sounds like this boat will outrun my Triton 21 HP, always did love the way a Ranger looked and fished, going to check them out for sure when I decide to gat a new boat.
