Soft Jerkbait vs. Hard?

Soft Jerkbait vs. Hard? - 11/04/13 01:47 AM

I've always been a fluke guy, but looking to expand. When should I put the fluke down and switch to a hard jerkbait, other than when around grass? My local lake has about 0% grass so thats not an issue.
Thanks

In clear, cold, windy conditions I'll take a hard jerkbaits anyday. One that suspends that I can work off steep structure that bass tend to gravitate towards in the winter.

Flukes are awesome baits no doubt and they will catch fish under most conditions.

... but when the water is in the high 40's or low 50's nothing will come close to a suspending jerkbait that just hangs in front of their face. Good rule of thumb is the colder the water the longer the pause between jerks.

Thanks for the tips guys. Ive noticed a drastic reduction in the amount of hits i've been getting in the last few weekson the fluke. I think that bite is coming to an end for 2013.
