Lake Fork...Big Bass...NO SCALE!?!? - 10/21/13 06:27 PM
My uncle just sent this to me, he has NO SCALE!!!...
He claims he measured the length at 25.5 inches, but no girth measurements. So what do yall think?

Bad angle but I'm not exactly sure about 25.5"
Size of that mouth, I'd say 4ish lbs?

yeah I kinda agree with z7. The size of the mouth is small for a ten pounder.
and there is no real girth.

Where is the lure? It looks like it's down there deep.
I'm going to agree with 4-5lbs. The mouth doesn't look large enough to fit a 25.5" body.

Watermelon soft plastic. Look at the gill plate.

I caught a skinny, sick looking 25" on Lake Weatherford a couple of weeks ago that weighed 6 lb even.
No idea but the fish looks really skinny

There's plenty of places to take it on fork t get it weighed. Looks like a 3lb fish to me.

I wasn't there so I do not know how long it was or a way to "guess" an accurate weight.
It looks really skinny,so if it was 25"+ I would say 7-7.5lbs

I'll go by what the guy says...25.5 if so, at least 7 or 8 pounds. When taking a piture at that angle the tail end is going to look skinny.

Best answer in my opinion.

Your uncle's Christmas list needs to include a scale and a tape measure.

Yep, that's what he said. I think he bought one afterwards though. My guess was between 6-7Lbs...not enough information or pics to be accurate.

Here's a 3.10lb bass I caught at Ray Roberts two weekends ago. I didn't measure his length and no pic holding him for scale either. I wanted to get him back in the water ASAP so I only took the one pic but based on the size of the mouth of your uncle's fish compared to his hand, your fish looks a little bigger than the one I caught. A great fish that will probably motivate him to buy a scale.

4-5 pounds is a fair guess. Looks bigger than 3 and smaller than 6 to me.

I don't see it being 25.5 inches maybe but anyways that fish looks to me about 4.5-5lb maybe 5.5 tops.

This is not a slam on your uncle's catch...
With regard to measuring a bass:
I watched a guy take out a tape measure and stretch it up and over a fish and call it 24" once at Fork. When you laid the fish down on a Check-It Stick it was actually 23".....
