***Updated*** Gabe Carter Benefit/Memorial Tournament - Saturday, October 19, 2013 - Ray Roberts

We are very saddened to learn about the passing of Gabe Carter. Gabe has been fishing with us for a long time, and was always an absolute pleasure to be around. We feel blessed that we had the opportunity to know him. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to his family and friends.

We are putting together a benefit/memorial tournament for Gabe on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Lake Ray Roberts. We invite everyone to be a part of the benefit/memorial tournament in any way that you can. If you would like to help, then please reach out to us by phone or email.

Want to thank Chris and the guys at the BLT. Talked to them sunday and they were great in wanting to help. Looking forward to this. Will be a great event and a great cause.

I am looking forward to this event, plus it benefits one of our own unfortunately under tragic circumstances. The "Texas angler family" has always supported efforts such as this, especially when it is one of our own.

I fish with Gabe every Wednesday up on Texoma..what a tragedy and how different it will be tonight without him. Prayers are out with his family. I'll be at the benefit tournament.

I would like to fish the tournament but will be out of town.

Chris Davis, is there anything that I/We can do if we would like to help with the success of the tournament in some way? Do you guys need anything? Or you might post where we can send a donation to benefit the family through the benefit tournament.

I have known Gabe and his wife for a long time. Known his wife since high school. Very sad.

Mt prayers go out to his family. I felt so sorry for them Sunday morning when Rusty and I were there about 10am. It sounds like he was one of the good guys. I did not know him personally but I can bet he will be sorely missed by all.

Unless Chris Davis from BLT changes it, it should be the same as a regular BLT event. This tournament was originally gonna be a BLT open.

Bryan will be the TD at this event and will be there all day. Please bring any items you would like to donate between 1 and 2 pm just before the weigh in. We will have tents put up with tables so that the items may be displayed and auctioned off at 4pm, after the weigh in is completed.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the family. The BLT staff will be donating all proceeds, normally kept for hosting the tournament, to the family. 80% of the entry fees will be paid out to the anglers on a 1 per 5 entry basis. There will still be a $1,000 Gift Card Bonus from Gander Mountain given to the winners of the tournament.

If you cannot deliver the donated items to the tournament, please contact Bryan at 469-955-7808 and we will make arrangements to pick up the items donated.

A lot of people have reached out to help in any way that they can, and we are going to have a lot of prizes to raffle off and help raise money for the family.

I would really like to fish this tournament , I never fished one before , that being said I would like for someone with some experience to to fill the back seat , and help support the cause , any takers ?.... BTW I have a pretty nice boat to fish out of

Thanks for the offer to donate something. Bryan Davis, our TD, will be set up to take donations between 9am and 3pm on October 19th at the Isle Du Bois ramp.

If you do not have anyway to get the items over on Saturday, call Bryan at 469-955-7808 and he will make arrangements to get the donated items on a day leading up to the tournament.

A website will be up soon on the BLT website that will list all the donated items and who donated them. A raffle will be done between 4 and 5pm. A free meal will be provided with donations accepted. 100% of all funds raised will be donated to the family and 20% of the entry fees collected. Anglers will have the option to donate the remaining 80% paid out.

Entry fee is $200 per team.

We are still working on getting more prizes for the raffle drawing, and we extend an invitation to anyone that would like to help by making a prize donation to be raffled off after the weigh in.
