Trolling motor issues

Trolling motor issues - 08/31/13 03:20 PM

I have a MotorGuide 550, 12/24v, 40 lbs trust that is on it's last legs (spins?). It seizes up and won't move from 12 to 24 without a good hit...literally.

Should I have it repaired or just buy a new one? If it's best to repair, do you have any suggestions around Fork?

12/24 40lb should not be that expensive. When in doubt, spend a little and buy a new one with warranty that you KNOW works
just my 2 cents!!!

Trolling motors are like home appliances else to me. TVs , washer/drier, refrigerator, when the start messing up I get a new one .. especially if it will cost you fishing time.... I didn't even know they made a 40lb 24volt tm... Never looked for one tho..
