Hubbard Creek Lake Pictures

Hubbard Creek Lake Pictures - 07/17/13 03:14 PM

Looks like both ramps at the dam are usable now. The new ramp Johnny built in March is in the water about 42'. I was there when he push it in and he pushed in a 40' ramp. I could just see the seam where he tied the 2 together, the seam was about 2' in the water. Lake is still rising and we have a LONG way to go, but at least we have a boat ramp again.

The other pics are at 180 bridge looking west. You can see the old road bed. It will probably be covered sometime today because the creeks are still running strong.

That is great to see. Hopefully we can get some more for all the lakes.

Re: Hubbard Creek Lake Pictures - 07/17/13 06:34 PM

If anyone comes out this weekend to fish be careful. There are a LOT of huge floaters in the lake and will probably be for a while.
Like Stompy said the creeks are still running strong so we we are going to get a nice rise. I can't get to my temporary dock now. Hopefully it comes up enough to float the main dock!

I was going to mention that and forgot. I saw some HUGE floaters and lots of them. Be sure and watch out for them.

Looks like it's going to come up about 4' total..
Posted By: Stompy

Re: Hubbard Creek Lake Pictures - 07/18/13 01:48 PM

This mornings boat ramp pics,,you can judge yesterdays and todays by the big rock between the ramps. Looks like were going to gain about 4'. That puts us good with both ramps at the dam and back to levels we had in Nov-Dec last year..

If we can get semi consistant rain now that we've got the water flowing it could jump quick

Re: Hubbard Creek Lake Pictures - 07/18/13 04:30 PM

The upper reaches of Hubbard creek got a gully washer late yesterday evening and now that arm is running good. It should add some more to the total. It will be hitting the lake this evening.

Water is still running pretty good. This is Hubbard Creek about 8 miles above the lake at noon today.

Yes Stompy it is. It was running even with the top tuesday and is was about about 3 foot below today. There was a big rain last night just north of Baird and that kept it running.

That spot is Landers Dam. The long gone town of Ibex used it for their water.

I have always wanted to fish that lake but longs ways from Houston or my place at Rayburn.

I looked at the lake level website and it shows to be about little under three feet low. With the current rains will the lake fill up.

Let me text the guy that win and see if he minds giving us his waypoints and baits of choice.

He said no

We've not gotten any rain to make an appreciable dent in the level in about 9 months. I believe they got a couple of inches near Breckenridge last week that brought it up about 3-4". We could really use some of the rain SE TX has gotten. Lakes on the upper Colorado River are really suffering.

How do you get the pics to show? I have an account with photobucket, and still nothing. Anytime someone posts pics with photobucket it always says photos can’t be displayed.

This thread is five years old and the pics were available until a few months back when photobucket changed their deal so know those pics won't show up until Stompy updates his account.

The pics I originally posted were when the lake was 31' low, it's 3' low now, all ramps are good to go.

Re: Hubbard Creek Lake Pictures - 03/05/18 03:49 PM

if you launch at the dam ramp, be careful using the courtesy dock. There is a 1/3 of a barrel filled with concrete with rebar sticking out of the top of it about 5' off the end of the dock. its about 3" under water right now. Looks like one of their dock anchors they used got away from them.

Yeah! thankfully it only sounded bad and did not scratch my boat. Lake looks awesome. What tournament was out there yesterday?

we only saw Three or four boats on the lake all day?

I remember talking to the guy who won with 31 pounds in that media on the friday before.
We got to talking about Hubbard creek and I mentioned that I heard it was fishing good he proceeded to tell me it was not true and the lake was fishing like ****! LOL I guess he had a miracle day! I knew better than to believe it.

the temps we saw yesterday ranged from 54-59 in the areas we fished. but I'm sure there is warmer water somewhere.

Lots of flooded stuff that looks good. I can only imagine the fishing should get very good in the coming weeks but looking at the weights from Media it looks like the fishing is good..

Re: Hubbard Creek Lake Pictures - 03/06/18 03:57 PM

This thread brings back memories. I fished the lake one time about 50 years ago as a teenager. Invited to spend 6 days fishing Lake Coleman, Hubbard Creek, and then on to Toledo Bend with my school superintendent, coach, and a couple other locals from home. Will never forget watching a 7 lb+ bass come up at the boat and eat a chrome colored Hellbender rigged with a yellow skirt just as coach was about to lift bait out of water. What a fight with two feet of line out.
