keeping bass from a creek ?

Say you put your boat in at Marshall Creek park above Gravevine lake, Grapevine has a 14 to 18 inch slot or whatever it is, what is the size limit if you are inside the creek banks ? how far up Denton creek would you have to be before the size was 14 inch ? Denton Creek runs out west of I-35, long way from Grapevine. I know you could not keep the fish if you entered or exited the creek from the lake. I am not wanting to keep bass from there, this was just a topic that came up and no one seemed to know the answer.

I ran accross one of the game wardens up at Amon G. Carter a while back and he gave me a business card. Said to call him anytime I ever needed anything. Very nice guy. I would email him the question. My guess is he is going to state that you would follow the rules of the resorvoir that the creek feeds.

Of all the times I've pulled in big bass while fishing from the bank, did a CPR and released her, people go crazy and say "Why did you put that fish back dude? It would be in my frying pan!"

My response is usually one of the following:
1. "So my kids and grand kids can catch her and because she makes babies!"

2. TPWD stocks this body of water so we can enjoy it so I release everything.

3. I don't want a ticket!

The last time I saw a DD in an ice chest while standing next to Joe Axton, I lost my guts so I guess that moment stuck in my head. Sorry....

Amen on that. Hate to see that. my only ten is hopefully still swimming in the lake but that's me i like the pictures and video.....takes me back to the moment

Nobody knows the answer ? I am not calling the game warden to find out, I was just curious so i could settle a debate.

I thought that was how you'd settle it. Let the game warden decide.

I'm pretty familiar with parks and wildlife laws and happen to know all the game wardens in the area. If it comes out of the creeks (the bigger, named ones that is, not the smaller usually dry feeders), it's regular state regulations. If it comes out of the reservoir, it falls under the slot. This is due to the fact that they are indeed different water bodies and therefore can have different regulations, as you suspected. If you stay in the creeks, you're golden. If you stray out into the main lake, the burden of proof is on you to prove where they were caught.
