I believe it is 1-2 coves northeast of the mouth of Little Caney. Been a long time since I was there.

Looking around, I found this. It's on my map but I don't have it in the house with me at the moment but I found this:

"If you go to Alligator cove, Its the cove right before the mouth of Caney Creek there is something looks like a beaver dam piled up, Its the gators nest. He's there every time we go in April. Its the cove right before the mouth of Caney creek"

Some YouTube Videos (I think they are all Fork):

Where Cam is pointing is where I've always known it. I have a new map I bought a few weeks ago and it shows it as being the top of the 3 coves directly below the words "school house cove" on the map he's using. I've known it as being directly across from SRA point and this map shows it as being directly across from the twin islands.

Of course these days everyone calls it "the Fork" and I've never heard that before and everyone uses cover and structure wrong so who's to say what's right?? laugh

There are a lot of maps floating around with different names for different places.

Kinda sucks. Sun Eagle Bay or Clarkson....several have entire creeks with opposite names. Oh well.

Re: Alligator cove on lake fork? - 03/24/13 09:54 PM

My map shows it about 1 1/2 miles from the dam up Big Caney on the left just north of where Cameron is pointing by a little. Mine also does not show school house either. Hope this helps a little.

I have always known it to be where Cam is pointing....having said that, a buddy of mine has a map that shows Possum(one of the cuts near long branch) as being called Alligator Cove.

That's what I have always called alligator cove. I didn't know about the other one until a couple years ago. And there usually is a gator back in possum branch, or at least used to be.

This post is pretty old but I'll say this...you're definitely using the right map.

If you really want to get serious about Fork, I'd suggest you try this if you want to learn about Fork....

The cove he's pointing at I've always called Eugene Cove, Alligator cove is 3 coves due east and shaped like a woman's breast. Ken A. agrees.

He's pointing at Alligator. Eugene is closer to 154. Don't know why folks want to change the name. Kinda makes it unsafe if ya ever need help and nobody knows which Alligator cove your in lol.

Cameron is pointing at Alligators cove. Eugene ditch is closer to the 154 bridge,,almost straight across the lake from the point of Oakridge marina.

I didn’t know where it was but I’m a little shocked that it is that close to open water. I thought it would have been in the back of a cove somewhere.

Cameron is pointing at Aligator. Eugene is up by 154 bridge across from public ramp. One of the best spawn coves on the lake just ruined by yet another RV Park !!!

the cove has a fairly deep channel coming in from the NE main lake, but the edges flatten out quickly into shallow banks, the shoreline on all sides are covered in "buck brush". there was an alligator there last spring on the north side of the center island. I often see deer there too.

Ken they keep talking about Eugene's Ditch, we're talking about EUGENE'S COVE, big difference. Anyway that map is older than Nancy Pelosi, things change and some folks just don't stay current.

Re: Alligator cove on lake fork? - 08/04/18 03:18 PM

Cameron is right. Back in 2013 when I posted the first time it not only didn't have any alligators, there wasn't enough water hardly for fish.

I imagine when the water is up like it sort of is right now the alligators pick off the deer when they are swimming along the ridge to get to the very point on that side of Little Caney.

If you want to see real alligators go to the back of Little Caney.

Shanda is awesome, cheers you did good bud, looks aren't everything, though she has that, she's a very nice person too. Always worried about me, I know that's the nurse in her, and I appreciate it..

I have to agree with Cam, two of the maps I have of Fork show Alligator to be where he shows it.. Very steep contour lines going in on two sides. Little brother and I used to kill the big motor and troll through the blockaid of trees out front of the cove back in the day.. It was really good back then, Lilly pads and Hydrilla, and one element, not a lot of traffic like now, it's easy access..

PS. Happy birthday Chris... happybday

...I would almost bet that if a person put a latitude and longitude position on here and marked it on a map .....
there would be a disagreement as to where that spot was actually located.
alligator cove 1, alligator cove 2 ....... just look for all the boats around the point of Caney Creek and you will be close.......and if you fish 1-2- or all 3 of the coves you can say you fished Alligator Cove.

In April of 1987 I saw a VERY large alligator in back of it of the cove I call Alligator. I think I was 8 or nine at the time. wink

The next spring in April I netted a 13.61 for a buddy of mine in a tournament in the same cove. Been calling it Alligator ever since, so sue me. roflmao
