Frog in the junk, jigs in heavy cover, and main line for C-rig. Also T-rig with fluoro leader.

I love it on my shakey head rods with a fluorocarbons leader. The sensitivity is awesome!

Streight braid in heavy cover. The wind is always a factor for me when using braid. It is more difficult to handle in heavy cover when the wind is blowing it over limbs. Then the 25# XPS comes out to make those accurate pitches between and into heavy cover. No leaders for me. That defeats my only purpose of getting the fish out of the cover. Anything less than heavy cover streight Floro. provide good feel and less stretch than mono..
I have not had any experiences in Mexico where we are catching over 100 Bass per day to say that the Floro. will out catch braid in heavy cover. This means they do not perfer one over the other; so I do not bother to use a leader.

Everything. I have braid on every reel except for one. Topwater, cranks, spinnerbaits, jigs, plastics, frogs, etc... I'm done with slinky lines

I'm now pretty much using braid with a leader for everything except normal cranks (I like to fish small cranks on spinning gear). If you want some strech, try a mono leader. Braid is so sensitive that it allows you to "feel right through" a few feet of mono. I pulled a six pounder out of some pretty tough grass the other day using 15lb Power Pro/10lb BPS XPS Fluro.

This. And 15 pound braid on my spinning set up. Occasionaly for lipless crankbaits in really thick cover too.

Buzz bait, frog, pop r, super spook. Above the water, no braid for me below the surface. Some times on a spinnerbait in stained water.

I used my 50# braid for an anchor last weekend at the Skeeter tourney. Got my C-rig hung up and it held my 20' Skeeter in that 10 mph wind.

Added sensitivity but you Will miss out on bites. They may not see the line, nor care but they hear that stuff coming over cover from a mile away.. like when you flip into a big. Tree and you hear it sliding across limbs, sound travels faster, farther and is amplified underwater. In some cases it could draw a fishes attention but on fork I highly suggest you throw 20# floor with a 15# leader, it out fishes braid 4-1

Re: What do you use braided line for? - 06/30/12 02:31 AM

im with you cody, i dont like it for flipping brush, trees or boat docks. I dont seem to get as many bites on it as flouro in those apps.

I do like it for main line draggin c-rigs over road beds and humps with a flouro leader.

I seldom if ever use hard plastics, So I use braid on everything I toss from March to Nov. Then I am forced to use Floro in the Ultra clear water...and I hate it lol.

Im guessing you dont like the stiffness in the cold water.... squirt a bunch of kvd line stuff on your reel/line the night before and let it "marinate"... you might change your mind about it

gets "supple" i believe is the word

As far as diameter and thickness....which is smaller....braid or floro? I use 20 lb power pro on everything.

Braid.

Back to the discussion at hand. Braid for spinnerbaits, tx-rigs, c-rigs, jigs, and have been considering it paired up with a glass rod for cranking/topwater.
