Genius or Ridiculous?

Genius or Ridiculous? - 09/18/11 06:09 PM

Sorry if this is a repost. Being a fair skinned ginger sort, I've almost reached the point where I only fish at night. Because I'm one big melanoma waiting to happen. I hate having to put on sun screen and remember to reapply. I'm also not a fan of the face wraps, can't get use to breathing through cloth. Anyway, saw this today:

Might still be hot under this thing, and then there's the looking like Darth Vader.. Opinions?

Intimidation factor is off the scale!

Who wants to try and steal a fishing hole from a real live NINJA?

as the poster child for skin cancer awareness, I gotta say that thing is ridiculous! Good sunscreen, a lightweight head buff, and a wide brim hat will go a lot further on protection than that thing.

And Ron, there ain't nothing wrong with fishing at night grin

You would toss that in the lake after a couple of hours especially if it is hot out. Not a good idea. Just stick to what Blu-Ranger said.

Just cut the top and bottom off of a 2 liter soda bottle. Cut it up the side to open it up and put some string on it. save $70. It seams like that thing would fog up.

I am only to shades away from starting in the next Roots series. And I am a firm believer in wearing sun block while fishing. Although, I wouldn't mind being a fishing ninja ninja

Use a Buff. It is a fabric that blocks UV and it is breatable and comfortable to wear! That thing is a knock off of a SafePhace which is a plastic shield that protects you from the sting of water at high speed in the rain and in winter.

The only thing i see good about it is running in the rain. Use it as shield, not skin protection.

I don't even wear a full face helmet when I am on my motorcycle. I had to wear one when I was racing but it sure was hot.

I have a bigger problem with my ears and neck and that thing is ridiculous...

Re: Genius or Ridiculous? - 09/19/11 03:09 AM

Those hats like the guy has on in the above pic are perfect for protecting the neck and ears. My nose and chin suffer the most. I'm probably going to just stick with night fishing.

Factor 30 while your getting dressed. another application while eating your pbj sammich......your good to go. Stop stressing. My ancestors lived in kilts and never saw the sun, and I've just learned to make the above a habit, from march to november in Texas.
