25 lb bag
Took me 44 years to catch my first legit 25lb bag. Curious how long it took everybody else?
3rd trip to Fairfield. But it did have an 18” minimum length. I earned that day…it was flipping reeds all day
Not long...
But I got to fish Amistad-Falcon- Alan Henry and Ivie in there GLORY days.
Somewhere in the late 80's or early 90's at a Redman event on Choke Canyon. It was my first time on the lake and I just KNEW I had it won. Had 5 almost identical fish that weighed in at 25lbs 14oz. Ha! I got beat by 10 pounds.

Great Topic.
I got mine a few years ago. Does it count if I did it at El Salto?

Falcon BC in May of 2012. 3 fish tourney and we weighed 26.55- 3rd place.
Was still an awesome day.
We had been fishing tourneys pretty regular for a couple of years.

In a tourney or just fishing? I've done it several times fishing. Only once in a tournament...a long, loooooong, looooooooong time ago. Best five were at Falcon went nearly 38. I believe it was around 2010 or 2011. All in one 100 yard stretch of creek channel on jigs! What a blast!!

8 years ago on St. Clair... Had 11 smallies over 5lbs, 4 over 6lbs and one exactly 7lbs, tons of 4lbs and under... Beds as far as the eye could see... Then the wind picked up... Bites were so fast and furious we never took the time to figure out our best 5... Plus it was catch and immediate release since the bass were out of season... Dan

Dang Dan, sounds fun, but that’s illegal…you might consider being careful who you share that story with

32 and 35 on Brady, mid 90’s. That was a Great Lake.
Several over 25 on Jacksonville, early 2000’s. Used to be really good
29 on Whitney, 2010 or so. I know you’re thinking no way.
32,35, 35, on a small (600 acre) East Texas city lake. Can’t t name it, there’s already too many boats out there.
All pleasure fishing. Most (95%) caught on jigs, some on buzz baits or Tx rigged senkos.
Back in the 80’s fished Eagle Mt. a lot, a good fish back then was a 5lber
Fished Ivie a good bit in the 90’s, never caught anything over 8. Good night fishing.
Biggest ever 11lbs out of Hubbard Creek.
Some sweet stories so far!

Nah... We were walleye fishing and the pesky smallies wouldn't leave our baits alone... Dan
1st time fun fishing in Arizona on 200 acre lake frogging reeds. My favorite time was punching hydrilla mats on Choke Canyon.

I hear ya
pitchin tube jigs to ‘ol marble eyes. After I said that I thought a second time, I kind of think you can Catch & Immediately Release if they’re out of season over there, but I don’t know for sure without checking regulations
Had a 30.43 lbs sack on Nac in a club tourney back in 99. Bubble gum flukes caught two 7+ off beds and a buzzbait did the rest of the damage. Had 38+ on Falcon back in 08 on 7" Tx rigged senko's, lost a kicker that would have put me over 40 at the end of the day.
Took about 20 years to break 25lbs.

I just noticed your new location!
The day I came close in the Skeeter Owner's Tournament, I had 2 9+ fish on Back-To-Back casts (19) I could only keep one over. To add tp the mix, I caught a 6+ and a 3 pound Slot. Best 4 that day would've been 28 on any other lake.
I had only been fishing club, Big-Bass and other tournaments for about 8 years.
No scales at the time, but in 91 on Fork on a split day (early & late) I had 7 over 24 inches. They were the real footballs Mother Fork was known for.

Whoa. You win. 50 pounds you think? That’s an amazing day.

Probably never will on Largemouth I’m not that good but on Smallies in Canada probably 20 pounds. But then again I catch 50-75 a day.

How long has a lot to do with what lake you fish.
I fished Conroe to tournaments a lot back in the 80’s and 90’s. Catching 25# offshore in May thru July wasn’t that hard. You had to have it to win even on the Stowaway Sunday tournament. Conroe still produces 25# bags. My best there was 34 something. Caught them in less than 30 minutes.
Craziest day ever was on Fayette. We got in an absolute mess of 5# fish. 3 of us caught 100 5# or over. Could have been 20 limits of 25#. We eyeballed most of them but put some on the xtools scale. At one point my brother or I caught a 7# on 7 straight casts in one spot. His kid was 10#. He had a bunch too. If you hit any structure just dead stick it and they would just about rip the rod out of your hand. The best 5 went about 40#. It was insane, like every fish in the lake over 5# was at a convention on one spot. All on a Carolina Rig Purple Passion Centipede.
We got to the lake about 11am and left about 6pm. Hands were all tore up from gripping fish. Taking out at the ramp a few other boats mentioned how it was slow. I thought “yeah, that’s because every fish in the lake was apparently off the end of game warden point.”
They brother and his kid actually topped that day years later on Falcon in December. It was after B.A.S.S. went down there and set the records. They caught an absolute stupid amount of 6 to 8# fish off a couple of trees on a XD crank. Best 5 went 47#. I was out of vacation. They kept texting me pics. We went the same time the next year and it was tough and windy. You’re either there on the magic days or your not.
I have a few stupid days in saltwater. Two years ago we stood in one spot in Venice and caught a ~20” or better trout on almost every cast for about 1 hour and a half. If you got the lure back in without a bite it was “what just happened”.
Then you have the days where you fish hard and zero bites. Add in some bait trouble or other.
Fun fishing or weighed in a tournament?
That would depend on who weighs them.

It was amazing! I don't think I had 50 for the biggest 5, but mid 40's for sure. This was the 4th day of a 5 day trip I had planned for my vacation. Days 1, 3 & 5 I zeroed. Day 2 I caught a giant and it was the only fish of the day. Then the magic happened on day 4.

Back in the glory days at Falcon (2010-2011 ?) my partner and I best 5 fish went 47 lbs. Included were 3 in the 10 lb. range. The lake was over full pool and the lake was even closed for a short while due to the high water....power lines in water?
