Lowrance trolling motor

Lowrance trolling motor - 12/03/22 06:08 PM

I currently have a Minn Kota 112 lb Ultrex 52" shaft on my 20ft Skeeter
I'm considering going with the Lowrance Ghost 52" shaft. For you guys
that have went from a Ultrex to a Lowrance, how is the foot pedal
compared to the Ultrex? Also I've heard of a recall on the Lowrance
allowing water get in the motor. Maybe that was the Lowrance
trolling motors that first came out. Is the performance of the ghost
trolling motor worth switching from the Ultrex to the Ghost.
Thanks for any feedback!

I'll tell you what I know, the negatives. The TM itself compared to an Ultrex I had is quite a bit quieter, it seemed stronger and I loved the fact if a battery went bad I could just push a button and be in 24v mode. Now the negative for me. My seal behind prop went out which let water in and fried the motor. It's been waiting on parts for 4.5 months now. My boat has Lowrance so that's what I went with for the linking ability.

All in all if they can ever fix it, it's a bad arse TM which I truly do love.

I really like mine but it seems the pedal has delay in it since connected by blue tooth and not cable driven. This can make lining up Livescope more difficult.

I switched from the Ultrex to the Lowrance due to my graphs being Lowrance. I wanted a uniform system that I could link. My advice…..save your money if you already have the Ultrex. If you’re starting from scratch, I have been real happy with it, but I wouldn’t switch over.

I went from the Ultrex to the Ghost and couldn't be happier. The Ultrex is good, but the Ghost is better.

I made this switch and couldn’t be happier.

I bought when it was new to the market and haven’t had any issues that weren’t self induced.

Had mine for a few years now and love it, not had any issues so far, very quite smooth and has more than enough power (I only run 24v) for my heavy old 21ft nitro.

I like the self induced part! roflmao
Most of my boat rigging issues are caused by me too. Crashing my Ultrex into [censored].
