We're looking at November 27, 2022. Yes, we're aware that it's Thanksgiving weekend.

First and foremost, I was extremely saddened to hear about Billy a few years ago when he passed. In saying what I'm about to say, please don't think that I'm acting like Billy was my best friend or anything like that.

My father-in-law, Ed Blackburn, and I fished many tournaments at Fork for a long time. Billy and Kay fished many of the same events. Sometimes we beat them and sometimes they beat us. Standing around in the crowds after the events were over, there was not a nicer, outgoing, warmer, friendly spirit there than Billy Dyson. He was always the first to congratulate the winners and he was truly happy for them, never just lip service talk. When He and Kay won, he acted like it was just the luckiest, ho-hum thing and that they were the last people on the lake that should've won. He told you what they did and where they did it and I really don't think he was BSing. He was truly a gentleman and there was not a finer person to be found.

To say I know him was only because we fished alot of the same events and stood around afterwards enjoying a beer or whatever he had in his cup. I never went to their Lake Fork home or anything like that. However, he sure had a way of making you feel like you were welcome there and that he was one of your best friends. He also had a huge presence here on TFF and his cordial, welcoming, level-headed style of posting is truly missed here these days. We could surely use more people in this world like him.

Billy is truly missed and I hope that Kay is doing well.

Rescue Fire I have to chime in. Met the man 2 times for maybe an hour each. He had a way of making you feel like a friend right from the beginning. Surely made the fishing community a better place.

If there is any way I can be at this, I will. Billy fought the ultimate fight against this horrific disease. I will never forget him.

Man I hope its another weekend. Wont be able to make that weekend, and want to be there for sure!

I checked with Lake Fork Marina and Mark Howard and both are available on December 11th too. We'd like to pick a day that works for the majority and the 27th isn't looking very good.
Let me know what you think about the 11th.

Tournament Date: December 11, 2022
Early Registration: December 10th at Tiffany's Restaurant at Lake Fork Marina 2:00pm - 4:30pm
Check-in and Morning Registration: December 11th, 5:30am – 7:00am

Entry $250 Per Team
Big Bass - $50 Per Team
No take off (Launch from any ramp)
1 or 2 man teams
Fishing begins at 6:50am
Weight-In at 3:00pm at Lake Fork Marina & Hotel
Following standard JC Outdoors Payout and Rules

It was fun fishing a tournament for such a worthy cause. Also, fun to talk with those close to Billy and remembering times in the past. Looking forward to Next Year. Y'all mark your Calendars now for June 25, 2023 (at least I think that is the new Date) for the 3rd Annual Billy Dyson Tournament on Lake Fork.

I sincerely hate that Pake, and I couldn’t make it. We sure planned on being there. Think a lot about Billy and Kay and miss seeing Billy’s infectious smile. My boat is in the shop waiting for a new lower unit. A friend loaned me his boat, so Porter didn’t miss his High School Tournament on Lake Palestine on Saturday. We came in 6th place out of 171 teams. We were going to use the same boat Sunday to fish this tournament but unfortunately I broke the skeg and wrenched the prop shaft pretty bad on Saturday. I sure hope to never miss another one!
