questions about O H Ivie

questions about O H Ivie - 10/01/22 04:24 PM

I live several hours away from Ivie. Took a trip out there later part of October last year and struggled, my father and I caught a handful of fish both days we were there. We again fished this year in early summer and were able to catch a lot of fish on topwater early morning and at dusk. We also got a lot of bites on senkos at the base of the bushes out there. Haven't been back since. Not looking for any honey holes. I will say that I dont have a livescope so that is not in the cards. Just wondering how the fishing has been overall. Thank you all for for any help/info.

Tough for most.

Few bites with a handful of people catching a couple of big fish.

It can still happen on any cast though.

Should start to pick up.

Concho park marina just posted results of some club tourny today with 30 entries. 1st place was under 15# so saying it’s slow is an understatement.

Thank you both for the info. I think I will go elsewhere.

And I believe that 1st place stringer had a nearly 12 lb kicker.

Gentleman that came in 2nd is a stick on Ivie (and just about every other lake) had a Heavy 8 but only a couple of small fish to go with it.

A young man in our club won with 15 lbs a couple weeks ago but also had a fish nearly 11 lbs.

I caught a 18” smallmouth first stop that morning and figured I’d at least get to weigh in 3 fish. Only caught 1 largemouth the rest of the day………….

I have struggled there lately as well. I dont know what I am doing wrong this last year. We would have a 30# stringer most days and this year I am lucky to have 10# in a weekend!

2 things are happening.

1. Fishing pressure. We all knew this would catch up to us.
2. The lake is dropping. Anybody who knows anything about Ivie knows where the fishing is heading. What we saw the last few years is not normal Ivie.

I think Ivie will be fine. Just a tough time of year on many lakes.

Once again. Those of us who live here and have fished the lake our entire lives understand where the fishing is headed, especially with the lake level. The Ivie of the last 2 years isn't the normal Ivie. There are some guys on here that can attest to that.

It's normal on all lakes to fill up and go crazy for a few years .I have been fishing bass for 60 years and have seen it time and again to lakes .I will say I have never seen a lake raise so many big fish as Ivy though.

Spot on but your wasting your time even going there Josh, Wouldn’t bother me a bit for it to drop to 40 low.
