Looking to get a new reel specifically for cranks. What's yall opinion on best overall gear ratio? What about baits like XDeep? Thank you

Really depends on your level of torture. If you have a low level of pain, find something in the 21”-23” inch per turn. Not many reels made this low anymore. I think Abu has one in their winch model and the Shimano K has one (something like 5.0 ratio), but it’s hard to find.

If you love torture, go with something in the 7.0 gear ratio range.
Bigger = slower for sure. I throw small cranks on almost anything and adjust the cranking speed to get the action I want, but for the true super deep divers I own a Quantum 3.8:1 Crankin' Reel base on the old 1310 platform that you can throw a 20+ foot deep crankbait all day long and never get tired. Anything else and I'm done in about 30 minutes. I've looked for a new low profile reel with this same ratio and so far nothing. 5.4:1 is the best I've found so far. I've thrown big cranks on a ABU Garcia 5000C @ 5.4:1 and 30 minutes and I'm done. I've also been told to look at not just the gear ratio on these newer reels but the amount of line retrieved per crank revolution. The less line brought in per crank rotation the better for big crankbaits.

Agree with Lakewaydr50 100%....................I currently use a Lew's BB1 5.1:1 reel.....................easy on the wrist/hand/arm. Not many manf options left.
P.S. I you ever want to sell those Quantum 3.8:1 reels- I'll take them- best cranking reel ever prior to BB1. Thanks.

Just went looking again for something low ratio. The ABU Garcia Revo Toro Beast is made in a 4.9:1. That is the lowest I've seen in a low profile reel so far. Looking at all the existing ratios in the new low profile reels has me wondering if they just can't build a reel @ 3.8:1 in this design. I wish someone would. I think there would be a HUGE oportunity to market a reel with a very high demand; especially if said company that developed a low profile reel in this ratio was the first to market with it.

I have and use 3 5:1 I keep on deck, 2 revo winch and a curado 200 (I think that is the model) in 5:1
crankbait, spinners (especially 3/4 and bigger), chatterbait, c rig and t rig I will fish with them.
I seem to do best with the lower ratio, all my other reels are 6:3 or 6:4

10XD on a Revo Rocket. They say cranking is a reaction strike.

6:2 - 6:4 for 5-10XD types.
7:1 -8:3 for anything smaller

5-1
5.5-1
6.3-1
7.1-1
Depends on the depth of the crank bait.
6.3 is probably the best you can speed it up or slow it down. 5.5 is just toooooo slow for burning it.
