Reel Covers - 08/19/22 04:24 PM

I have had a few tackle warehouse reel covers (for a few nicer reels) been using them for about a yr
That have started melting, or dissolving at the seams.. kind of counter productive to keep my nicer reels nice..
I'm curious if anyone else has had an issue? Or any better cover recommendations?
I have some of the rubber wrap around also, that I don't use because they kinda suck

I had a few neoprene does this exact this....so I ditched them. Nothing beats the crown royale bags for storage. When they're in my boat, I don't protect them.

I ordered some from Academy and they have been good so far. 1 year old

I have the academy ones and the Steez covers. Neither have shown signs of deterioration. The Velcro does collect stuff over time, so I clean them by putting them in the laundry once a year. You must have gotten bug spray with Deet on them, or something.

I have about 2 dozen of the Academy covers that are several years old and all are holding up just fine.

Reel Glove or the H20 Xpress ones from Academy work perfectly fine... no issues

I can say don’t waste your money on the Lews Baitcaster covers. They look cool, but do not fit any Lews model, past or present! cheers

It’s the first part that flys outta the boat on takeoff.

I use the little soft bags that come on Crown Royal. They work great and want blow off going down the lake or highway.

Looks useless for reels that are on rods.

Lol-It’s a reel cover, what else do you want it to do?

I have about 30 of the academy neoprene and velcro ones, most of them are getting pretty ratty but still do the job.

Oh I don’t know, maybe be able to cover the reel while it’s still on the rod.

I noted that it’s kinda a pain to put on-Slip over the reel handle, stretch over the reel, done. Sure, it might be difficult for some grindefinitely not coming off once it’s on
