Fine with me. Probably will be more entertaining. Now make the minimum 2 lbs.

Re: MLF Cup events going away - 07/22/22 04:41 PM

Brent the minimum weights are based on each lakes ability to put out a certain size fish. Some of the venues they have fished in the past would leave then with much less fish if they had to all be 2 + LB.

I liked the cups more than the BPS tour. But, since it has been decided, I guess it will be the team format now.

The one team format they did was fun to watch. I love the Cup events but this will be good too

This sounds interesting, but I always thought the cup events were their best format.

How many times are they gonna try to reinvent the wheel?

apparently TV viewers believe they have managed to come up with a concept a lot more exciting and entertaining than watching the top 3-4 fishermen walk across the stage and dump a sack of fish on the scales.......they have increased TV exposure from 30 hours a year to over 800 so the TV networks, sponsors ,viewers and pro fishermen seem to be happy with their re-invention of the wheel.......

They should have kept it that way, MLF would be in much better shape had they made the BPT catch weigh release 5 fish and use those events to qualify for mystery lake Cup events and make those the biggest $$$ Majors and stream those live. They tried to force the every fish counts format too quick.

Just saw something about Team Alton Jones Jr. today on social media and wondered what that was about, now I know. I'll watch and see how that turns out and form an opinion after I see it.

Twos company, threes a cluster [censored]. I can’t wait to see the dumpster fire this turn into. Which two will turn on the odd man out.

I bet MLF turns into a reality fishing show. roflmao

Being pick 54 is kind of like being the last pick on the old kick ball team back when we were kids. Interesting who is in three second pick for each team.

Can you provide a breakdown of what draws more views for MLF Cups, BPT or TWPC? Have you seen anything that breakdowns the viewership numbers? It seems odd they would scrap the Cups if they were ratings leaders for them. I also am curious how many actual hours of original programm8ng they generate and how many of those hours are repeated programming.
You bring up their hours of programming pretty often so I would bet you have that information and if so please share.

I don't have that info and my observations are based on what I've read on their website and the info mark Jones has posted on here....in my area of the country on Medicom cable, their show is appearing on the outdoor, discovery and sportsman channels...it appears that each original show is repeated twice same weekend and I believe some of these these shows are shown again approx. 6 months later.....

I didn't care for the pilot team event they already aired but concensus seemed to be most liked it better than regular MLF cup format, I would guess that because most tournament fishermen fish team events. Same way with golf, when the PGA switched the Zurich Classic in New Orleans to that 2 man team event I tuned out.

Wonder if KVD will have any better success in this type of format?

In reality, it was probably a sponsor exposure issue. You make the cups based on BPT performance. I am sure the sponsors of the 30 or so guys who haven't sniffed a cup appearance in 3 years, who may also sponsor the organization as a whole, probably voiced their concerns. Now everyone gets included.

4th in points a win last year and 7.5 million in career winnings is pretty terrible. Not the guy I would talk @#$% on. Just my opinion.

Had a great year last year but compared to when he fished BASS, he’s not been as dominant since MLF started

BTW SCOOTER- I wasn’t talking smack- he’s one of my favorites, so thanks for the advice
