Favorite/Go To Carolina Rig Plastic Lure - 05/04/22 05:21 PM

Guys,
Over the years I have enjoyed reading everyone's input and ideas on baits. I wanted to reach out and ask what everyone's favorite/ go to Carolina Rig plastic lure is. I don't care about color. I just think it's interesting to see all the different styles people use and have success with. I am looking to broaden my horizons and try something different I've not used before.

I almost always use a regular old Zoom lizard in watermelon/red or green pumpkin. The other day I didn’t have anymore in the boat and used a Zoom watermelon/red “salty critter” and slayed em. It barely fit on the 3/0 hook. Had zero action. Looks like a tiny crawfish. It worked just as well, maybe better than the lizard.

I have thrown about every bait there is through the years, Zoom Lizards, Baby Brush Hogs, Berkley 10" Power Worms, Centepedes etc but for some reason I can't explain a Lake Fork Tackle Baby Creature has been my most consistant bait and actually has caught maybe the most quality fish although night fishing Fork through the 90's the Power Worm probably caught my biggest fish.

C-Rigs have been my Go-To-Rigs for all these years. I have 6 or 7 on deck and in the box.

Fluke and Senko - on a light C-Rig 1/8 oz Pegged, for the shallows. Short to 14" for shoreline cover.
Fluke and Baby Brush Hog - Dragging a C-Rig out and around contours. 3/8 oz. pegged weight. 18" leader 20# test.
10" Worm and Big Brush Hog. - On a controlled drift along the Rubble Piles on the edge of River Channels. Braid to Braid 50# test. 1/2 oz. Weight Pegged and 24 inch leader. Long Line hook sets.
Big Brush Hog and Lizard - On a Short C-Rig for casting across points and through heavy cover. Slow rolling with a 14" leader and weight pegged; 3/8 oz.

2 ways...

Drag
Hop

I drag and pause when it's windy or on rocks
I hop when near trees / brush

Not sure this is right...but it gets bites

I use a one ounce tungsten weight, 4 ft leader, and fish it as fast as I can while keeping bottom contact. The weight looks like its swimming for its life, and the lizard looks like it’s chasing it. Bass can’t stand to see another creature chasing food. Haha. So the bass eats the lizard.

18-24" leader with a baby or full size brushhog, 6" senko, zoom lizard length depends on what I am after.

4" leader, hollow body frog but rarely, 6" utail worm, big lizard, 10" worm, big fluke.

I fish the short leader shallow, long goes deep, over 10'.

color depends on conditions.

Chartreuse Zoom Centipede, also known as the french fry. If I'm near fish, they are going to bite it. If I were in a tournament had to choose one lure to throw all day it would be this french fry.

I stared to do this and well... it works. I used to use brush hogs, trick worms, craws, bugs.. one day I thought why not stick a swim bait on, so i stuck a 3.25 Strike King Rage Swimmer Jun bug and BAM.
