Is the Spawn late this year????
Seem like in years past they were on the beds already?
I know the lows have been still cold lately...

I will say lake worth was 45 up in the river and lake arlington is 48 so they are about a few weeks of 70-80 degree weather from being prime.

Late? Maybe you're down in south Texas. Still early for DFW.

Like all the cargo ships - they are still cruising in the bay, waiting on an appointment to unload their goods.

IDK about "late'. I saw bass fry and caught the male guarding them in a pond near me back on the 3rd of March so who knows... clearly some have already spawned.

So what exactly is the spawn? Is it when the bass eggs hatch?

How about how do you know when is it the spawn. How do I know when is the spawn?

The spawn is when female bass are laying eggs and male bass are fertilizing them. It starts with the males building beds. In most Texas lakes it occurs when the water reaches 58-60 degrees. It can happen any time between February and May, but March is the most common bass spawn month in Texas. That's the short version. laugh
