Ray Hubbard Ramps - 10/03/21 03:04 AM

Need info on the lake. Never been there. What is a good safe ramp to launch out of. Have a H.S. tourney there in a couple weeks. Thanks for any input.

66 ramp is good, just a little shallow. Use the farthest north single ramp, furthest from the bridge

Not that it matters too much, but what is the launch fee? And would the ramp b open at 6am?

There's a nice ramp in Heath on the south end of the lake but its not sheltered from the wind

3 public ramps on the lake now. West side off of 30 - John Paul Jones (used to be the old Chaha ramp) - great ramp and pier can be iffy for safety of trailer and vehicle at times, In Rockwall off of 66 - 66 ramp, as stated above 3 ramps south lane closest to 66, be careful to due concrete that’s been left, not directly behind but off to the south end of the ramp. Good parking and dock. Will be crowded on the weekend. In Heath, mid lake no protection from the wind and somewhat shallow. Always been my last choice. Typically I use either Chandler’s or Harbor Bay, both cost about $20 to launch. Both good and secure.

Well finally went to Hubbard. Chandlers has signs that say closed on weekends except for season pass holders. I thought that maybe now it's off-season that wouldn't be the case but the machine would not even let you try to pay. Got in a harbor bay. On the water was tough for us. Only got bit a couple times on a fluke.
