Lonnie Stanley was a really good guy. I got to meet him in the early '80s at a fishing exposition on Lake Conroe. In a few minutes he taught me and about 10 other guys how to fish a jig! I think he thought like a fish. Fishing world is gonna miss him.

Re: Stanley Jigs BIG LOSS - 08/21/21 06:32 PM
The jig I and I'm sure many others learned how to grass fish on rayburn with. Growing up in Jasper in the 90's was the peak of grass fishing, braid was new, and jigs were the deal. I used to go into Ann's Tackle several times a week after school and just hang out. Heard so many stories and met all the sticks. Randy Dearman, David Wharton, Harold Allen, etc. The Stanley jig was the only jig many of them threw so that's what I started with. You could go out to caney flats every afternoon in the summer and get on the edge of the grass in 8-10ft with a green skirted jig tipped with a green/orange flake hawg craw and catch 5+ lbers till dark.
