I'm going to fork for my first time. Putting in at Popes. Mostly gonna fish with my son who is on HS. Bass team. But if the daughter wants to tube...is that possible??? Dam area??

Yes. Take them over in front of the dam. You will most likely see other boats with kids tubing over there.

Be careful. That lake is FULL of stumps.

FULL is an understatement!

Make sure you get a lane chip or follow the main lake buoys the idle after that.

I would say don't tube or ski ANYWHERE except in front of the dam to be safe. There's other open areas, but on your first trip down there just stay at the dam for tubing or skiing.

Just watch for the long extended point off the dam. I wouldn’t tube anywhere on that lake personally. Just not worth it.

Some people tend embellish quite a bit, if you stay in marked lanes and idle what is not marked you will be okay

Definitely get one of the boat lane chips or both. It’s worth the peace of mind and time savings. Right now the lake is at a dangerous level. High enough all the stumps are still hid but low enough to come into play if you don’t know the lanes. There are a bunch of guys running what they think is wide open water that are about to have issues as the lane comes down so don’t follow any random person thinking they know the way. The lake has been full or high most of the year and a lot of the stumps have broke off 1-3 foot below normal pool (403). I watched a guy run far right off the boat lane across bell hump wot and missed a stump by inches that is just peaking out of the water in wave troughs and he ran to the bank side of it where there are some massive stumps underwater.

The main boat lane, marked with buoys, is several hundred yards wide. Stay within and have a good time. Dam area is open from the dam to approximately the mouths of the major creeks. Be careful on the far east and west ends though. Have Fun!

Okay, sorry. Didn’t mean to offend. I’ll change my attitude, then. But I miss her with a passion!

Well. I made it back alive. Didn't hit too many stumps. Couldn't buy a bite. Guess I'm just a rookie. Thanks for all the advice.

Or you could drive around following boats with 3 people in them... roflmao

But seriously, DougR is right - docks with brush tied off, big main lake points/humps and of course thr bridges!
