What are some colors that used to be tried and true colors that your grandpa swore was the best.....that you never seem to use anymore.....or combination of colors that you no longer see around?

Red bloodline, Texas smoke, camo were our best colors on Rayburn in the 90's.

Culprit Fire and Ice and they made a Hot Pink with black pepper flakes back in the day that was insanely good.

Grape was the color that I was told to catch big bass when I was young.
Back in the early 90's the color that was the hot color was pumpkinseed.

pumpkinseed was supposedly a color that resulted from a screw-up in the color mixing at Zoom and turned into their best seller for a year or so...
chartreuse with black core made by Red's worms was really good for spotted bass on lake martin....

Mean Green and Grape Neon 4" ringworms in the 80's for me. Motor Oil, Fire and Ice, Tequila Sunrise as mentioned above as well. Strawberry flake in the summer bright sunshine. I don't think I've ever seen anyone throw it since. Probably still works.

I can’t find any of the old Jawtec lizards in my “safe” in this color but during the good old days on Fork this crazy green tail on a lizard weightless in the grass was awesome. Seems like we called it “Mr. Green Jeans” or something like that. The Bogus Wiggler in the same color was good punching heavy grass as well. [Linked Image]

There used to be a opaque red one that was a Kangaroo Worm. Had a little pouch in it to put tablets in that was killer on Fork. Also Fire and ice culprit worm was my go to.

chartreuse with black core made by Red's worms was really good for spotted bass on lake martin....

I remember picking up some Red's Catalpa worms in a local tackle shop while I was fishing a tournament on Lanier. They didn't work for Lanier, but those things were money on the Texas lakes.

Our go to for numbers of fish was the 6" purple with white curly tail mister twister. For lunkers my dad believed in the culprit 7.5" crawdad color. Man we caught some fish on those worms

Barlows had some opaque green with red inside that were good. Used to whack em pretty good on a black lizard with yellow dots all the way along the back of them. Can't remember what company made em. This was late 80's early 90's for both of those.

Mister twister made lizards with white and yellow dots.
The4 inch ones have caught a lot of big fish with spots or just black.

Frank, I did not say that ALL the colors were still available but many of them are still sold today. Maybe you need to pull your head out and go look and see.

Most of the colors listed on page 1 are still made and some of those same colors are also listed on page 2.

Earlier this year I bought 200 10" and 300 7" from bitters baits


Gonna give Bitters Baits a try. Will give my opinions on their stuff when order arrives.

Picked up a pack of Culprit Tomato worms the other day at BPS, I hadn't seen them in a while, caught a lot of fish with them back in the day

Pumpkinseed was the other I always use to catch them with
