Join the crowd down by the dam smelling cigarettes and farts is what I’ve read on here many times, Grout will be along shortly to verify.
I don’t fish in the “fart zone”, I avoid that mess and therefore, I don’t catch much down there. But if anyone loves the hassle and they are man enough to fight the crowd, then the dam is the place to be! It’s a completely different lake than it was when the TTT was there. Back then, there were fish up the river. Now the river looks like a Hershey bar and the fish are nowhere to be found.
The camping thing, not sure if you planning on sleeping in the boat or a tent. Either way take lots of bug spray with you.
It’ll be in a tent but I’ll definitely have the bug spray? Is It usually crowded on the lake mid week? How are they catching them at the dam? C-rig?
Mosquitos are horrible and big.
The lake has been insane because everyone thinks it’s “on fire”, when it reality, that flame fizzled out months ago. It’s marginal at best right now and I see guys posting pics of 2 pounders on FB and being proud, Lol. Now in a few months, it’ll be good again (I think), need the water to clear up.
I have no clue how they are catching them at the dam, not worth the hassle for me. Maybe one of the flotilla guys will chime in with the dam techniques. I will risk bending my prop and go up the river, before I’ll deal with the dam BS.
Seems to be hit or miss during the week. I have to fish weekends only, but the guides have commented on how busy it is some weekdays, used to not be like that.
If you see a guide fishing, just go ahead and follow him, he’ll know where the fish are.
