Ray Roberts Boat Lanes - 05/26/21 08:36 PM

I've got a tournament in a couple of weeks on Ray Roberts that I wont be able to pre fish for due to work and other tournaments. Does anyone know of someone that sells map chips? Or general navigation of the lake? thanks

Stay between the dam and Wolf island and you will be okay. Otherwise, it's time on the water on how to navigate. I am unaware of anyone that has any map chips. I would be leery of anyone offering one that you don't know/trust.

There are no boat lanes, run at your own risk

North of Wolf Island is full of timber, most just under the water right now. No map cards that I know of.

Lance Vick teased one a few months ago. There will be one, but not sure when.

After my third bent prop shaft I've gotten a little more careful.

When in doubt
trim it out

No boat lanes....and even now with my years experience on it I do everything visually. Any time I pass a certain point after Wolf Island it's idle speed.

Many of the creeks are always idle as well. Lower end of the lake near the dam is wide open...let it eat. Just watch out for the island as it's not really an island more of a peninsula that has some treacherous areas around her.

If you can’t see it .......it’s not there

Have they repainted the lane markers (AkA Danger poles) ahead of the classic?

The pros won’t be worried about it. They have people.

I'm wondering about it for the followers and making the lake look good on TV.

Yep, just let the stumps just under the surface eat your prop and lower unit. Great advice.

Nope, grew up on this lake. Picture a hay field by a creek, creek will have a lot of timber around it, then fence lines have timber around it. Then you have 20 acres of timber, that is what is underwater. Lot of the tops have broken off just under the surface

I am familiar with most of the lake, just hate idling but every where so I gamble now and then

I've always been told if you go fast enough that you just kinda glide and careen off most of it.....I'll never forget the time that Zeb drove my boat all over the lake north of Wolf Island and never hit a stump. Are you sure they're in there? This was prolly 7 or 8 years ago. It was an amazing and pucker factor ride....

At 2’ high you can get away with running all over the place, hoping she stays about that level for the classic!

If lance does come out with one it'll sell quite good I imagine.....

For those of you that remember when they dropped the lake down 18 feet, you should know...there are no "boat lanes". I fished Ray Bob from the time it opened and there used to be lots of places you could run between the trees, but man you better know your way around once it drops a couple of feet! And it was really surprising to me how big that forest between Wolf Island and the dam was. I thought they had clear cut it all. Nope!

Nope, and most of the scary stuff is about a foot under the water right now

Yeah, last time I saw it this full was in 2019. It was crazy to watch the hazards appear as it drew down naturally. Places where I was running and not aware of what was below.
