A friend of mine is a lure collector extraordinaire. He travels all over the world buying antique & exotic bass lures.

If you have never seen a $48,000.00 Top Water Plug, here you go! It is a 1904 Heddon 100 Dowagiac Minnow. He purchased the bait with the original cardboard box.

I thought it was too cool not to share. cool

The box is probably worth more than the actual plug.

I'm more impressed with the original cardboard box. They don't build cardboard like they used to.

Don’t throw it with Vanish Fluorocarbon.

Incredible find, people go nuts for those antique collectibles. Wooden duck decoys also fetch incredible amounts of money, lots of people trying to find their "rosebud."

Amazing what the pandemic has done for the collectible market. Glad your friend found something he can treasure.

That looks like a spare prop for the rear of the bait. For that kind of coin it should have some extras, lol.

What's old is new again, seems like a bit of a precursor to the Whopper Plopper to me.

He has six of the Dowagiac Minnows but that one is the most rare. He has $125K tied up in that six lure collection.

Pretty darn cool to know someone with that kind of passion for collector bass lures. He lives in the DFW area.

And I thought I found something really cool in my dad's old tackle box. A Creek Chub Bait co. jointed pike that had lots of use and a Creek Chub Ding Bat that looked new. Both were in the original boxes.

I’m glad someone was able to get that much for a lure, and sorry your friend was the one that gave them the money. Lol.
