Conroe for the first time

Conroe for the first time - 05/23/21 10:59 PM

Headed to Conroe for the first time next Thursday till Monday. How is it fishing right now with all this rain? Does anyone maybe have some pointers on areas I should focus on?

I am assuming they are gonna be moved out a bit on some offshore spots nears spawning coves and pockets but I imagine the water is pretty dirty

Any tips would be helpful due to having my wife with me and if I don’t get her on fish she gets angry lmao

A 5 day fishing trip with a wife that gets angry if you don't put her on fish sounds like a blast...enjoy.

I hate to say it but if you’re going to Conroe she is definitely gonna be pissed. Maybe you should tell her about your girlfriend right before you launch the boat, that might take her mind off the fishin. Good luck and give us an update.

I suppose I should rephrase that to gets impatient, and also rephrase that to we are taking a trip there and we will do some fishing but it’s not a “fishing trip”

Good luck!

Conroe can be a tough lake even with good conditions. Not sure on the water clarity right now but I'd put in at Stowaway Marina and fish up toward the back of the creek into Paula Lake

You can catch them. Cover alot of water and if you can't catch them go to Pappa's have a beer and some lunch.

They can be caught and if this weekend was any indication, hurry!

I would highly suggest staying north of the 1097 Bridge. Holiday weekends on Conroe can be brutal. If you venture south do it early before the wakeboard crowd gets going. Fishing has been decent with all the rain. Cover alot of water!!!!

We own a house on Conroe and have for the past 14 years. The lake will be 2-3’ chop by 11 AM and covered with boats all weekend. We bass fish but aren’t that great at it and Conroe is tough, but it is 45 minutes from home so that’s why we have a house on Conroe. We only fish the mornings on the weekends. I typically fish rip-rap at marinas and a few brush piles that I have marked but not the best deep water fisherman. (we like to chase blue marlin) I fish the rip-rap with popars and tx. rig worms. Usually good for a handful of fish for us and the kiddos. Back to the house by 9:30 AM for breakfast and switch to skiing/wakeboard mode for the kiddos. Usually off the lake by 1 PM for the day as there are just too many stupid idiots that don’t know how to operate a boat. Keep your head on a swivel…..
