Hog Father pic added

Hog Father pic added - 04/21/21 05:22 PM

I’m looking for a Tater Hog Father glide bait. If you know a good place to look would be great. Lost my last one on a big striper yesterday. If you have one would buy or barter. Thanks.

This best pic I have of the lure.

Yes it is and when you look at glide baits no “Hog Father”. Have sent messages in FB, and to an email I have. No reply yet so I’m thinking the worst, no HF.

You know it's not as bad as you would think. Hell, I'm 74 and throw it a lot. Need the right rod for sure but a ball to fish.

I wish you the best.
Most of the really good hard swimbaits have been impossible to find for a year.

I have also sent emails to some people about availability updates without receiving any good news.

Not the same brand but this kid makes some great glide baits.

Am in contact with Ryan but his webb site says sold out on the one I'm interested in. Tough times for gliders.

I picked up a 7'10" Ike Power rod that should be damn near perfect for throwing these things, I'll check it out.

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught on that monster?

Re: Hog Father pic added - 04/21/21 10:31 PM

Biggest bass was 8-6, striper 17lb.

They will offer them later this fall and when they are available they will sell out in less than 5 mins.

well Zaldain is throwing one and just showed it on Live so good luck getting one ahahah. I'm a big KGB glidebait fan myself. The Legend Reborn is an awesome bait. If you have Facebook ask on swimbait universe for the Hogfather as well and also swimbait underground.

I don't know how pricey those are but it looks like you are using mono or fluorocarbon. Why not use braid or does it change the action that much? Asking for a friend.

Re: Hog Father pic added - 04/23/21 07:11 PM

25lb sunline mono. I think this is pretty normal for big glide baits. Braid too big a shock on hook set.

You know how sometimes when you make a cast on braid the line gets caught in the spool and just stops? If you want to see how far a bait can fly, no longer attached to your reel, throw a large swimbait on braid. You need the shock absorbing stretch of mine of fluoro when casting. Also helps to have a little stretch in the line to allow the bait to glide freely.

Your right Zaldain did use the Hog Father snd Tater is going to make a batch. Best part is I’m in for two of them. All’s right with the world. thumb And Chris is my fav angler as of today.

Hey Chet, sent you a PM.
Also Matt is going to be at the Classic with several different baits!
He's bringing me a couple.

Re: Hog Father pic added - 05/15/21 12:33 PM

No experience with the glide...but Ive asked the builder about his crankbaits. He pretty much told me to order it and he'll make it. I see the hogfather can be added to a cart and ordered....I'd say do that and wait for it to come in the mail.
