Bassmasters Open #1 - Harris Chain Fl - 03/03/21 07:41 PM
The first of 9 Bassmasters open tournaments starts tomorrow. Can anyone spot the

Must be terrible to make a living fishing and getting to fish a Pro Tour and Bassmaster Opens...terrible. Worst Job ever.

I'll be fishing it but under a fictitious name just to keep da biggy O guessing...:) Just 1 more year and I expect da biggy O to take me on a tour of his favorite fishing lakes there in flo-rida...:)
I'll be interested in how the lakes fish. Will be back there in April .

Powroznik dropped out of BPT after 2020. He fished the Opens last year as well. Poche fished a few Opens as well last year I think. I was kinda surprised as well that so few BPT guys are hitting the Opens.

He did, and Ashmore was never on the BPT roster but he did fish some of the old MLF stuff pre 2019 before it became a Tour. I'm surprised there's not more BPT fishing the full opens schedule, Boyd must have put his foot down

Probably journeyman at best in the opens, but the thing the haters need to soak in- even if he loses, he wins. The content creation is paying far more than a classic or redcrest winner could even dream of.

Oliver Ngy is signed up as well. 2 YouTube stars getting in the opens, will be interesting to see how they do. MLF must have done something to sweeten the deal. Obviously it's just my opinion but after the guys that have went back have gotten so much exposure it seemed like a no brainer for some to switch back. At least for the guys that are better at targeting 5 big bites. After last year the opens will have a much bigger spotlight for a while at least

I’m guessing he dumped a small bag. I don’t blame him if he didn’t want to wait around at weigh in. I would do the same thing if I had that kind of money.

doubt it, he weighed in 2 for 2.88 a couple weeks ago at a toyota series event. He is going to have a tough time, but he has the money and time to figure it out

Watched his Vexus video, definitely more polished than his early videos, I didn't realize some of those went back so many years.

They must have axed that proposed change. When they announced the schedule and changes for 2021, coanglers were eliminated from day 3 and they said they would be doing live coverage.

Re: Bassmasters Open #1 - Harris Chain Fl - 03/06/21 05:58 PM
It’s possible BASS is cutting back on spending the money to cover top 10 of the Opens LIVE for financial reasons. To produce and air that, it might cost $3000 for that one day. This way over the 9 Opens they could theoretically keep that +/- $30K for operating expenses. It also might be that they are cutting way back because the top “sponsors” are all paying them in product at retail and not actual cash. That might tie up money until someone can sell all that stuff on EBay. Also, I wonder if they might be keeping the money for the 50 extra spots they added to keep afloat. They might have added a few pay spots but should pay deeper into the field, but I haven’t seen anything addressing this specifically in writing.
It appears they sprung the 30% increase in the field size at the last minute instead of sticking to the field size set out at the time they opened for registration, so you might think they might make that payout schedule clear and not some back room math if that might be what is going on, certainly not how Ray Scott did things. Now that they eliminated the non boater, a guy has to pay all that money for entry, travel and lodging and only gets to fish 2 days, that sucks. It’s not a pro event, they need the non boater all three days.
It will be interesting moving forward to see if things change regarding the LIVE in the Opens , as I’m sure that was a consideration for many anglers to possibly get some air time for the sponsorship, it appears now they pulled it without notice. Screwed everyone this year it appears, and they don’t really care.

Expected to see Ronnie doing live @ the Open this morning. Its obvious they eliminated co-anglers on the final day because they planned to do live and put a camerman in the boat with the top 10 instead, I would love to know WTF happened with that plan?

Also one of the Googan Squad. Not sure to what extent though. He said on Dunkins podcast that they sold a portion of it to an equity firm I think it was.
