That black spot seems to be a pretty distinguishable feature that was also on the 6.6 lb fish..

Interesting.

This can't be made up. So social media "stars" showing up to Ivie in droves not only breaking all the records but now catching the same fish within days, most likely with livescope....

Highly unlikely, nearly improbable, but different boats, 2 days apart, 2 different marinas, i doubt it is made up.

Big fish have a home spot. I'm willing to bet it was caught on the same tree or close by after being released probably where it was caught....

I’m guessing that’s a typo and it’s Luke Dunkin? They were at Choke the last couple days, guess it’s not “on fire” anymore. roflmao Fricking Internet...This is just getting better and better.

Pretty sure you can buy passes at the marinas or get one of the envelopes and mirror tags at the ramp and leave cash in the dropbox. If there are any left😂

A) either we all suck at fishing and these youtubers are ridiculously good.

B) the lake has been fishing well but the locals kept it quiet and it’s now coming to light

It would appear the lake is definitely trending up after catching all that water a couple years back. The same thing happened about 13 years ago. Lake had been really low and caught water. The lake record was broken and for a couple of years numerous Sharelunkers were caught. Looks like the start of another boom cycle. Back then social media was just starting so news didn’t get around like it does when guys with 100k followers post vids and pics. As far as being ridiculously better than everyone, maybe so. I’d never heard of Josh Jones before last week. Watched a couple of his videos and he openly admits that he’s not catching the size fish he catches without the Livescope.

Re: Another Ivie Smallmouth record - 02/24/21 07:28 PM

I’d be willing to bet since it’s all livescope and mainly 6th Sense guys, they are prolly telling each other where the “X” is so they can all get in on the action for YouTube videos.
Which, nothing wrong at all with that. They are whacking them this week out there. You can’t really blame them.
I wouldn’t say they are better fisherman than anyone else. You just gotta know livescope and where the “X” is!

Strictly hypothetically...if you were staying there on the lake 4 days...are there places to eat and stores to buy beer/snacks and things like that? Strictly hypothetically speaking

Sportsman’s is the only place within 25 miles for evening meal and beer store right there as well. To buy anything like a grocery store is 30 miles one way. Everything is booked in small towns within 30 miles so a room if you haven’t got it will probably be 60 miles. Store counted 70 at the elm creek ramp, lots of boats on lake and they don’t mind fishing on top of you, I learned that the hard way today. Have no idea how many was at concho today but I’d bet there were quite a few as well. I live 5 minutes from the ramp and 20 boat caravan coming in.

It is in the middle of no where. Elm Creek and Concho Park marinas are on the far south and north ends respectively. They have grills and normal snacks. The closest 'big' town is Ballinger or Eden, both are minimum 30 mins from a launch, closer to 45. They have restaurants.

So with the whole lake filled with boats, how many were crushing the fish? Maybe the crowds will start to wane when they realize it’s not as easy a a few guys made it look. Especially if that snot moss comes back and you can’t run baits without fouling them out.

Sounds about what my lake is like once it starts warming up....just hoping there arent any jet skis and pontoons in that caravan and should be better 😂

I promise I wont fish on top of you...even if youre on em. Holler at me if you see me....or at least dont start waking around me when you see a non-local LOL...red tracker with one seat and big helix that kinda looks stupid

I’m hopeful your last sentence happens soon, it will calm things down real quick. Talk at ramp was smaller fish and I don’t give reports.

I only make it out there once or twice a year. Started going in 2009 I think and stopped in 2015 when I stopped fishing as much. Had some decent success back then. Fished it last year in early May and that was my first experience with that moss. Didn’t have nearly as much success and a whole lotta cussing going on about that slime😂 Think I threw an A-Rig twice and pulled in two pounds of moss each cast.

Difference between Falcon And amistad. They are massive lakes and can hold the pressure Ivie isn’t.

Can I stay at your place this weekend?

Re: Another Ivie Smallmouth record - 02/25/21 02:40 AM

I left the elm creek ramp today at 12:30 and there were 27 rigs parked there.
It is busy but nothing like Fork busy or even a metro mess lake on a weekend.
We never had a problem of anyone fishing too close. The places we saw boats bunched up were groups like the 6th Sense guys fishing together.
Don’t go there thinking you will catch a bunch it is very tough fishing. If you are really good with a live scope you can catch them.

Glad to see it’s back to what it was but it’s not a numbers lake unless you stumble on to the magic group

I don't get it. People see or hear about a few people catching big fish somewhere and rush to that lake. There are big fish in a lot of lakes.

Do people really think they are going to catch that 16 pounder if they go to Ivie? What are the odds?

Mainly because I want to, I like fishing a new lake in which the weather is going to be nicer there than here and I 100% won't catch a 16 or anything else from the couch

because it is roughly the same distance from El Paso as Amistad and Ive not only never fished this lake...i had never heard of it....and looking at how everyones doing I figure I can luck into a 5 pounder or 2 if I stay a few days. Very excited to fish something beside rock for once and putting my electronics to a test finally.

Why do tournaments choose to hold tournaments on lakes that are known to produce limits and bigger fish? You mention odds.....well if guys are lighting them up on bags of bigs on multiple back to back days....you know there are at least those big fish who actually live there instead of hypothetical big fish in a lot of lakes. Some psychological...but lakes are cyclical....and if a lake can potentially be at its peak....are you gonna stay home to not upset locals, or head out there for a potential once in a lifetime opportunity? Me? im driving my [censored] down there to stimulate the local economy at worst and possibly hooking into a PB at best 🤷‍♂️

Also....I get the livescope aspect....but Luke Dunkin caught the same smallie as miliken...whos to say one of the rest of the 8-13 pounders floating around wont find my senko? Glass half full
