Boat Insurance - 02/09/21 11:59 PM

What are you guys paying for boat Insurance and what is the common coverage. I’m new to this and I’m buying a 2020 Xpress x19 w/ Yamaha 200. I’ve got some quotes and they seem high to me but then again I might be doing something wrong. Thanks

I asked a few places and came up with 800 a year for a 2021 new 20ft boat. The plan has a diminishing deductible, so every year it drops 25% if you don't use it.

I'm paying 600/yr on a 2013 boat valued at 35k. 300k liability and 5k of personal equipment coverage (rods/tackle/cell phone/etc).

I’ll play: I have a 2013 Ranger 521, Merc 250 and most of the goodies. Bought only a few months used in 2013 for $48,000. Insured by Bob Luellen w/Worldwide Marine for the contracted price of $48,000. Meaning in the case of a total loss they pay $48,000. Don’t remember the liability, bodily injury, liability and personal content(tackle...) but they are all high amounts and the trailer is separate from the $48,000 boat value. Very good coverage. I pay $600/yr for this policy. State Farm who has all our vehicles, RV, house... wanted $1200/yr for the same policy(many years ago) and in the rare event of a total loss they only pay a depreciated value. Drives me crazy with insurance companies when (even if rates remain unchanged) your premiums do not go down when the value of your boat, car....depreciated. https://www.worldwidemarineins.com/

For my 2021 phx shopped around 5 quotes. IMO my best coverage for the price was found at “boaters insurance agency”. www.bia.us.

Just switched over to Bob Green insurance after my first claim on a boat I have ever had in 20 years of paying Progressive was denied. These guys are all bass fisherman and know what they are doing. $50 more a year than Progressive/World Wide Marine, but more comfortable I will be treated fairly if I ever need it file a claim.

BoatsUS towing insurance and GIECO , get a quote in 5 minutes. You have to put in the replacement value you want coverage for. You can not insure the trailer if you want and save. My boat replacement value $30,000 and 2% deductible is right at $400 a year.

it would not be smart not to insure your boat trailer now that they cost over 5k.

Around the same here...but my boat cost is higher and I insure the trailer as well.

We have a Basscat in the shop now that got in a car accident. $8800 to replaces the trailer. It would be wise to do some home work and find out what it would cost to replace the trailer on your boat and have coverage for that.
