Lake Somerville Hazards?

Going to be headed to fish Somerville for the first time next weekend. Just wondering if there's anywhere that I shouldn't run on this lake? I've done a little looking on navionics and it looks like there's some standing timber in a few coves but other than that looks pretty wide open. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It’s pretty open, at least the main lake is. There are some large concrete pillars over by the park on the other side of the dam from the big marina, forgot the name of the park. They are marked on the Navionics map as a hazard area. As you mentioned a couple of coves have timber. If you fish the old Marina with all the tires stay on the outside of the metal poles. Some poles inside the perimeter are cut off just below the water line.

I fished there last week, it's very low and the wood you're talking about is in about 2-4'. The water temp was in the mid to upper 50's. Caught a few fish nothing over 4 lbs but enough to keep it interesting, no boats on the water so you'll pretty much have it to yourself.

Those are not concrete pillars. Those are buoys.

The lake is low so most of the shallow points with rocks, road beds etc are visible. There is a section of rocks past Rocky Creek Park that is sticking up out of the water. It should be marked by bouys. Past that is a cove that has a lot of standing timber. If you go past Welch Park into the cove where Big Creek comes into the lake there is a lot of standing timer and on the way in you can see stumps just above the water. Where you see those stumps there is a lot more timber just under the water that you can’t see. If you run all the way to the end of the lake towards Nails Creek Park be careful as it gets shallow down there. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

I can assure you there are concrete pillars/blocks there unless they have recently been removed. If you idle or run over the top of them you’ll hit them. There was nothing attached to them, just several concrete pillars.
