Do big ones bite in the snow? - 01/11/21 02:50 AM

We were coming back from a youth hunt in Dublin today, kids got a buck and hog. Anyhow noticed lots of guys towing bass boats between lake Proctor and Whitney and was suprised by it considering the weather, didn't see any media or other tournament listed.

Pressure drops really low so it helps the bite

And the big ones were in 1-2 ft.

Best bag I have had was in the snow on Toledo Bend. But apparently the bigs don't bite in sleet.....fished Sunday on Rayburn.

Wanted to go but the hills in my neighborhood were tough just in my truck, much less than with a ton of boat behind me. Didn’t even want to think about ice on a steep boat ramp...

On a warm water lake in particular, the colder it is the more likely they are generating. Generating means current and warm water which usually means active fish.

Was it a 2 day? I see they were there the day before on the 9th.

Used to have an old newspaper clipping from when people used to eat everything they caught. Pic was from the 70's, my dad had 7 bass for 49lbs. Caught on Sam Rayburn on a crisp 24 degree sleet and snowy day.

I don't think the fish know it's snowing. In fact I'm pretty sure its physically impossible to snow under water. But to answer your question, yes, it's a slow winter bite but they will feed under snowing conditions.
