Just wanted to say I am very happy with the reel I brought myself for xmas. It's not a hight dollar but the first Lew's reel, ( American Hero) and I got out to the lake yesterday and I very impress with it. I have always had Abu Garcia reels only sense 1964. I know that when I need a new reel I be buying Lew's.

The only thing that counts is that it works for you. This is just for me but a $500 reel is not going to make me a better fisherman.
It's not a $500 reel, it's a $60.00 reel. Most of my rods and reel are under $100.00, I have two rods that were over a 100 but I got them on sale for around 40 bucks, The fish don't know that.

I can tell you from experience that the middle high range equipment might not catch any more fish, but they sure make a difference when you are fishing all day. So putting $500 in a rod and reel is worth it to me.
