Excellent news... little man just turned 6, and want him to learn the art of the thump.... no better place to teach a kid to worm fish.

I heard they are limiting it to 60 boats a day. Temp checks at the ramp and mask required while on property (on and off water)

Being that my boat is still not dropped off at shop probably not. That said you never can tell. I can net my own fish just as good as borden could net them........

Lolz. Can we talk about a possible trade? Maybe you can come fish with me since my partner is so burned out and leave yours in garage.

On their website it has read January 8 at the earliest, with a validation date sometime in December, for months now.

We would need to dirty that boat of yours up, I need to be surrounded by chaos and filth to get mentally focused. The 4 lb fish take alot of zen type [censored] , hours upon hours of mental preparation goes into taking money from the world class anglers that frequent that place. roflmao

I still don't think think squaw will open. Why only open for 3 months? They have to pay contractors to run the park and then for only 3 months.. Just does make sense to me but then again what do I know..

If I find out there is a HS Tourney on a lake I will avoid it a few weeks before and then of course on D-Day. My wife gave a bunch of my old tackle to one of her students, then the next year she got a call from the parents wanting to know if I would be a boat captain, she told them I'm sure he would, let me get back to you, I said "NO", she started in with but I thought.......... - I cut her off and said "Hell NO"

Re: Squaw Creek Update - 12/10/20 09:50 PM

When was the COUNTY PARK on Monticello closed while the plant was operational? Huge difference between the two. Luminant looses money operating that park, it’s a head ache for them and they simply do not want to do it and will use every excuse to not honor their agreement to provide recreation to the county as one of the many reasons they offered to be allowed to build the plant in the first place in Somervell County. Corporate Fishing Hole.

its not that their employees are at risk this just shows that they dont want the regular folks out there.

If its being used very little the rest of the year close it in the warm months. Up the d@mn entry fee for the winter months, people will pay it. I now its stupid but I would.

Re: Squaw Creek Update - 12/11/20 01:48 PM

Always cracks me up when people say it loses money. It only loses money in the sense that all cash businesses "lose money". Have you ever seen a cash business that actually makes money on paper? At the bare minimum it has the ability to not lose money if it was operated correctly. Especially under the new operation schedule. It's easy for a mega corporation to shovel over a bunch of expenses to a part of the operation they don't want to be involved in to begin with. The fact is it could never make enough money to even register for a company like Luminant. Therefor they will look for any excuse they can not to honor their agreement. Covid is the best excuse ever. For everything.

Re: Squaw Creek Update - 12/11/20 06:19 PM

They don't make money on squaw creek. Does the company lose money? I don't know but Luminant did file bankruptcy in 2014. It cost around $500,000 to run the park for what I am told but they make $225,000 off the park being open... That is from a friend that works there. I do know that all Luminant properties do not allow any visitors at this time and that is why the park is closed. I don't think it will open Feb. 12th.. It will be in Oct. before they open up again..

If it costs more for the total yearly maintenance, upkeep, salaries, equipment..... than you take in at the gate than it looses money. But YES they are going to milk COVID forever. Heck, I can’t remember how many years they milked 911 as a crutch to not open.
