Did you hear him talk about that fish? Said he thought is was a catfish and bent two hooks out on his crankbait horsing it it before he realized it was a bass.

I don't know why folks can't yeld to the Pro's for a few day's. Watching Mullins and he has literally had to kick it on high and get around a local fishing right in front of him.

Funny I was just looking at the results and was thinking man, these numbers aren't really very good at all. Will be interesting to see if it improve or gets worse but only 8 guys catching 20+ on Fork is not good even in November.

That would be correct. 85 full time professional anglers that would be in the top 1/10 of 1% of bass anglers on the planet and half of them could not catch a limit of 14 inchers today. Who woulda thought?

Soon as they pay rent to the lake authorities I guess that'd be okay...otherwise there's 10's of millions of angler's that wouldn't know one of these 85 guys if they had their name in neon on the boat...don't know don't care

That was a big one for sure. Weird thing is that it looked like it had that crankbait sideways in its mouth then poof it was gone. I'll never understand why they don't let them use nets. Those things are the differences in $100,000 vs $10,000

That was on a way stiffer rod than I ever throw a crank bait on, his tip was barely bowed up, looks like a rod I would use for a a rig.

Re: 2020 Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest @ Lake Fork - 11/06/20 06:56 PM

Clunn purposely uses a more stout rod to crank with. He also only carries a couple different rods that handke all of his fishing. He also is thowing a squarebill that weighs around 2ozs so he went heavier.

These guys are just good, with the level down obviously it is easier to cast under the docks but I have yet to see one of them THUNK a board and then dig out a backlash.

Re: 2020 Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest @ Lake Fork - 11/06/20 08:11 PM

I think they are doing well, as is the lake. I dont recall seeing a tournament in the last 6 weeks with this many big fish/bags.

For instance, take a look at the FLW tournament on Big Sam 3 weeks ago with over 100 anglers. While they arent the ā€œelitesā€, there were some sticks in it and the winner had 54lbs for 3 days.

While I agree that Fork isnt like its heyday, it is still better than most.

It's funny; while I was watching Clunn today, he had a rod in his hand and only one other on the deck. Most of these guys have at least a dozen rods on deck!

I rode with him on day 1. He is seeing every fish he is catching. Not as easy as he makes it look. Getting one out off the tree and the making it bite takes some doing. That Livescope is the deal for that type of thing. He can see both the fish and the bait so he can see how the fish is reacting to the bait and vary his cadence accordingly.

After day one I said I would take him against the rest of the field for $100.

Congratulations to Patrick. I talked to his dad for a while before the second day weigh in. I had met him the first day when we came in. Day one he put in a clinic but was under the radar a little. His dad has been there with Patrick all the way fishing the opens with him. He traveled over with Patrick as he had made the cut at his last event and had to leave straight from there. I asked him what he thought initially about Patrick wanting to make a living fishing as itā€™s a grind and no guarantee. He said after fishing with him for a while he knew that he had what it takes to possibly make it at this level. I told him I had ridden with a bunch of top guys over the years and it was pretty apparent that heā€™s in the upper 1/3 skill wise. Plus heā€™s got the temperament and determination it takes. Super nice young man. So cool that he had his wife, mom and dad there to see him win his first Elite series event. He will win more and probably a AOY or Classic or two.

Thanks for sharing that. He seems like a great young man just from what you can tell from Bassmaster Live

A very wise friend told me a long long time ago... If there's a tool that makes your job easier, you need to have it. How many would make 25 casts to a tree if they didn't know for sure there was a fish there? I'm guessing not many.

Anyone else see how Ken Smith/Ken Driscoll's videos relate to what Patrick is doing? Interesting for sure!

I immediately thought the same

Many, many people are rushing to give all the credit to the win to the technology. Gonna be a lot of disappointed people that run out and buy a setup expecting those same results. They are not giving Walters credit for the time and effort he put into learning and maximizing the technology. Contrary to what someone said on another post regarding this win its not as simple as turning it on and loading the boat.

The most impressive thing for me was the accuracy in which he was able to get the bait exactly where he wanted it. Yes he had some "bad" casts as he talked out loud, but he was a sniper. Overall, truly impressive showing he had. Winning by 30# is eeks

Yep, technology is only as good as the person using it. I could put all of it on my boat and ot wouldn't help me catch anymore than i do now.

I did not say anything about any win or loading any boat.

Its very cleary your trying to bs people into thinking that live scope is hard to use.... So others wont get it.

You simply turn it on and you set the distance and if there are any fish around youll see them.

I posted this here 9 months ago.. my a rig comes in on the rs of the screen on the 8 foot line, those are 3 - 4 lb bass....

I do not own one/ probably will not own one and I have been nothing but a supporter for anyone wanting to use the latest technology to fish with. You cannot find one comment from me anywhere saying otherwise. I have always applauded the guys like Walters that use technology. I have no need or desire to stop anyone from using it. That is purely crazy talk on your part.

Again anyone thinking they will do what Walters did simply by buying one and turning it on might be disappointed. Its gonna take time and effort. That is not misleading people, its called honesty and perspective.

You don't just install one and turn it on. You need to know what you are seeing and interpret it. I have no clue what your little video showed.

Re: 2020 Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest @ Lake Fork - 11/09/20 11:23 PM

I watched it on my computer Thursday and Friday. On Saturday I joined the crowd following around the pros. Actually the biggest crowd I saw including me was three.
On Sunday we went to the SRA and watched it on the jumbo screen. They probably put on a good show but we skipped it because there were no overs caught on Sunday so we helped the captain pull the live release boat and get it out before the traffic jam.

Great show all in all and stop complaining ya'll.

Well then you could decipher it after all.........

If you wont buy one by all means be like Mark and keep saying how hard it is to use and figure out and hope everyone else doesnt buy one also......

Two over 70 year old guys got on my boat on Nachoniche and liked what they saw enough to have one and install it within 2 weeks... so it definitely isnt hard. I did jump on and help them dial it just a little more (dont try and view 100 feet out)...

He had three graphs for great structure isolation.

Lowest Graph:. Helix had mapping / 2D
Middle Graph: Mega360
Top Graph: Garmin Livescope.

He was a deadly sniper with that setup.

No i didn't decipher it. I saw blobs swimming around. I would have no idea what kind of fish. Where to throw or anything else. I don't do video games. I don't care who does though. More power to you. But not everyone can just buy one, turn it on and understand it.

Patrickā€™s dad said something like....ā€he calls me up to the front deck to look at it. Itā€™s not something I would be good at doing.ā€

I believe Patrick said he has had it on the boat since mid summer. Brought it off Facebook market place. It isnā€™t magic. He is able to make it appear that way. He said itā€™s not set that much different than out of the box setting, some stuff like pallet color, nothing exotic. Those fish are still very hard to get triggered to bite. He caught 30 on the first day when I rode with him. Probably 2 bit without working the heck out of them.

That's what makes it awesome. Watching a fish come at your bait and figuring out how to trigger them. Trying different baits to see what does what and how they react. It would teach you so much about working a bait even when you arent watching the screen.

fos is what you are bud, I have had livescope for a few months now and there is for sure a learning curve and it has to be dialed in for what you are doing, crappie set to 25', bass set to 75' etc.
your main gig is to get on here and brag and try to belittle others with your perceived intelligence, we know better.
you do not just plug n play it, dial it in to what you want and then learn how to read the screen and what is there.

mark has never tried to dissuade anyone from fishing, he is a promoter of the sport and very knowledgeable, makes some awesome swim baits and has good info when he posts it, unlike some bonehead from iowa.

I fished at fork during the tournament. I was surprised that 10 pros came into the arm we were fishing. 3 of them made it to Sunday. Enjoyed watching them. They were all fishing docks. We caught about 20 over the 4 days in trees in less than 10 ft. 5.8 was our best. Great weather to be on the lake. I was pulling for Clunn.
