Until everyone hits it all at once as soon as it opens and then pounds it to death for 3-4 months strait.

The wording is “may” reopen. Unless there is a lot of complaining they probably will not open again.

If they do open again, you may be able to walk across the lake on the tilapia.

I hope they keep it closed , at least to tournaments, that poor lake gets pounded early in the year.

Re: Squaw Creek shut down - 09/18/20 02:30 AM

They should limit the boats to 50 a day and increase fee to $100 a boat

Re: Squaw Creek shut down - 09/18/20 12:49 PM

As long as their are any restrictions imposed by the State or Federal government in the name of Covid they will use that as an excuse to keep the lake closed.

The fishing would improve and $100 isn't that much money, so I would bet it would stay booked far in advance...

Maybe they should just open it up to Kayaks like Wheeler branch ?

Re: Squaw Creek shut down - 09/20/20 10:51 PM

The “problem “ with Squaw Creek having too many 2 to 2 1/2 pound fish may not overfishing, it may be under fishing. When 50 boats a day can go out there and catch 50 to 100, 2 - 2 1/2 pound fish, maybe it indicates there are too many fish of that size in the lake and they need to come out. I think the problem is there are so many fish that size in the lake 100 boats a day taking out 10 at a time wouldn’t make a dent. With the large number of 2 to 2 1/2 pound fish it is difficult for any fish to get much larger.

You must be on crack!!!! $100!?!? To catch 2 1/2 pounders? $30 is extremely too expensive to fish that overrated lake. $100 and no one would ever fish that POS. You must be rolling in the cash.

Re: Squaw Creek shut down - 09/22/20 01:05 PM

It's worth a $100 bucks if I knew I wasn't going to get shot if I left my headlights on at the ramp

Re: Squaw Creek shut down - 09/22/20 02:04 PM

Where else can you go and catch 100 fish during Christmas break? Id pay $100 no problem to do that. Shoot I paid a guide $500 one time to take me out on Lake Fork and we caught 3 fish. $100 is a bargain! IMO!

Re: Squaw Creek shut down - 09/22/20 04:15 PM

I love that lake for numbers and feel the current cost is about right. I wouldn't pay $100 for the experience however. I find it hard to believe anyone would call it a POS. I'm a terrible fisherman and always catch 25-40 fish in a day there. I HATE the morning line, but it moves relatively quickly and usually everyone is friendly. Unlike some other public ramp areas. I can prove the lake is great. I can't catch fish anywhere else most of the time. LOL!
