Powershot Baits

Powershot Baits - 09/16/20 06:27 PM

For those who utilize the powershot technique, do you use one main bait or have you found changing baits will get you bit? I've only used this technique on 4 lakes over about the last 6 months, but can only seem to get bit with a 10" plum power worm. Caught fish on each lake, but if I change to a brush hog, for example, no bites.

I have 3 rods tied up on my power shots:

Brush hog
6"-10" worm
And a bait I shalt not divulge

Each one of these produces in different areas

Brush hog in trees, rocks, grass, brush piles
Worm grass, deep water, ledges
Unnamed bait balls, bush piles, and deep water

- Heavy Drop Shot for deep grass is only 5 inches between weight and hook. 1 oz. trolling weight and 4.0 heavy line wide gap. Rigged with a Hoo Daddy Jr. in Watermelon Seed/Neon. Looks like WR; but makes a huge difference under the dark of the grass.
- Power Shot in 1/2 oz. for bedding Bass in the Spring. Length is about 15 inches with a Fluke called Baby Carp. I want the weight to stay put at the edge of the bed so the Fluke can be raised and lowered into the bed.
