Personal best!

If you’ve paid attention to my numerous newbie questions on here you know I’m just getting started in bass fishing after being a cat/saltwater guy my whole life. Also recently got my first bass boat.

Today got my personal best! Nothing monstrous and I don’t have a scale but she was 24”. Figure about 6-6.5 lb.

Caught on dropshot with very light tackle. She came to the surface really easy first but as soon as she surfaced she shook her head and I about pooped. Then she peeled drag on three pretty good runs. My daughter was net girl and scooped her up like a pro.

She came to the surface really easy first because their first inclination is to jump to try to throw the hook.

Makes sense! I got scared the line was going to break because after the jump and first run I saw that the hook had gone all the way through her upper mouth.
