I want something that fits in garage, most of the lakes I fish on dont require big boat. I have been pleased with my 520 but I'm not mad enough to go running all over the place anymore. I may even look at 18.5 stuff with 200.

I had a 519 several years ago and it was a good boat. Still fished as well as a 520 just a little wetter and rougher on windy days. And with a 225 it was a rocket.

Skeeter ZX225 is another option

Phoenix 919XP is an option. Have never heard a bad thing about them and they are a rocket ship when properly dialed in.

My old partner has one and yes, it's real fast. And a good stable fishing boat.

Personally, it would just be a decision between that and the Caracal for me if I were in that market.

If you are looking at used boats, the Legend Alpha 199 fits. Mine was a rocket ship with that 225 on it.

Just so happen to have one of those for sale Wawi! Tried to pm you but it's full. Check out the Classifieds under trading posts/swap section and take a look at my 199. How much room do you have in your garage?

The Caracal is a wide body deck, they are nice and have that BassCat smooth dry ride

Buddy used to have a 199 Legend that was good rig also

Good looking rig, I'll probably buy new, I'm kinda itchy for the new 4 stroke merc.

Just get a boat and put whatever ya want in the back. Only the TFF lawyers give a [censored]. Lol. I just finished putting a LS8 supercharged crate motor in a ‘70 Chevelle. 700-990hp depending on fuel and tune. I don’t think the insurance companies give a damn either way that it now has triple the original power. I’m sure a boat rated for 200 or 225 will simply be BETTER with a 250. Same weight on the transom, gonna fish the same, same length on the trailer, it’s just gonna holeshot and handle better.

Well that won’t work if you take your Chevrolet to the drag strip in a sanctioned race. Your horsepower will matter which class your in.
In a fishing tournament over horse powered is not allowed either.

WAWI doesn’t do tournaments. That’s why he is “What’s A Weigh In”. He’ll be fine with a 450R on the back of a Z19.

As for the Chevelle? The customer doesn’t do “sanctioned event” racing. Mainly the street “in the middle of the night” club kinda stuff. Where the money ain’t in a Check or gift card.
cheers

What's your definition of "Rocketship" wink

Storage on my Caracal is longer than my Eyra and the Eyra is 4" longer but it had a 2 stroke on it.
Basscat's website shows the Caracal storage is 1" longer than the Eyra.

Not a rocketship if you are comparing it to one of your bullets with a RACING motor on the back of it. I am no boat speed like you expert but I out ran a lot of boats. This was just a factory boat with a a standard ProXS 225. So, to me it was a rocketship. I sued to miss the hole shot and speed of that boat but REALLY like the room of the V-20. I won't be getting a new boat for many years unless someone decides to start making that boat again, which I have heard some rumors that just might happen.

Re: Boats under 20ft rated for 225 hp - 08/25/20 02:35 PM

Just messin with ya CG. I ran an Alpha 199 w/ a 225 for several days on Fork and was very impressed with it. I recall the boat ran 74 loaded heavy with 2 of us and ran across rough water as well as my 211. Caught an Over in a JCO event out of it on the mainlake with every other wave breaking over the nose. Took it back to Billy with clean carpet that day. roflmao
