Lunkerhunt Dragonfly

Picked up 2 of these cool looking top waters. Got one in blue, and another in white. I know they've been out for awhile, it's just taken me a long time to pull the trigger on purchasing one. I wanted something else to try besides the frog. I took it out last weekend to test it out, and it very rarely ever sits straight up once it lands on the water. Most of the time it lays on its side. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just the way it was meant to be? I threw this with mono line, if that helps.

Have you tried supergluing a narrow strip of golfer’s lead tape on the bottom?
Looks like a fun bait to try, if not a little gimmicky and fragile appearing.

No I haven't tried that yet, or even thought about it. That is a clever idea though, and I might just have to give it a shot. When I tested it out this weekend it happened to be in the middle of the afternoon. Worst time of the day to attempt a top water, but it was the only time I had available. I did have a bass coming to check it out, but it was about 5-7 feet from the bank, and the bass laid eyes on me, and then darted never to be seen again. I did however have quite a few perch check it out, but they were too small to bite. It also completely fooled a turtle. This turtle attempted to eat it at least 3 times! Surely if it can fool a turtle, then it can fool a bass. I'll have to try again early in the morning, or in the late evening. I think the lure has great potential.

I know tacticalbassin talked about with throwing a toad to use a gamakatsu superline hook to add a little weight, and wait a second and it'll right itself by the hook being heavier. Same concept as the lead golfer's tape.
